INTRODUCTION:

SG-CNC-4AX User Manual

SG-CNC-4AX is an isolated Parallel Port Breakout Board, which is specifically designed for Hobby CNC machines. It is compatible with a variety of Parallel Port CNC Control Software’s. The Breakout Board works as an isolation layer between PC and CNC machine. It protects PC from various potential damages such as high spikes or short circuits on the high voltage motor drivers used in CNC machines.

4 Axis Step and Direction for Each Axis.

4 Relays 10Amp Rating with indicator LED’s for Spindle motor, Coolant, Flood pump, Vacuum ,etc.

Software compatibility: Mach2, Mach3, KCAM4, EMC2, TurboCNC etc.

Working Voltage (80-275V AC) and external DC power is not required.

All outputs are fully buffered and opto isolated.

All inputs are opto isolated.

All inputs and outputs with LED Indicator for easy debugging.

DIP Switch for Charge Pump Safety selection.

Up to 200 KHZ STEP Frequency.

0-10V DC for Spindle speed (Optional).

12V DC 300mA output for external switch/limit switch/sensor(proximity Input.

Setup:The Breakout Board is connected to the parallel port of a PC using a standard D25 male to female cable.230V AC is connected between the Power terminals.

Connect All AXIS Drives:The CLK(-) and DIR(-) terminals are connected to each AXIS driver circuits CLK(-) and DIR(-) inputs respectively. A connection between the driver circuit CLK(+) and DIR(+) the Breakout Board (+) terminals may need to be made as well.

General purpose Relay output:The relays Normally Open, Common and Normally Closed terminals are available for All relays. Relay2, Relay3,& Relay4 is connected directly to the PC port..Relay1 is connected directly to the port, this is used for the charge pump signal, when the charge pump is not ON By DIP SWITCH1 it can be used as a general purpose output and it connected directly to the PC port. All Relay output use for Spindle motor Coolant Flood pump Vacuum ,etc.

Charge Pump:When booting up the computer the output pins of the parallel port may be in an unknown state. All motor&pump operated thru relays that is activated when there’s 5V present on PC parallel port the motor & pump may start at any time whilecnc software is not in control and this is a very dangerous condition. To prevent this we can use the charge pump function.When charge pump function ON by DIP SWITCH1 require the CNC software to output a frequency signal around 12.5kHz on pin 1 of the parallel port. If the signal is not present All relays, motor outputs and switch inputs AXIS driver will be OFF.

General purpose Input: Input1,Input2,Input3 is connected directly to the PC parallel port.Input4& Input5 is connected to the PC parallel port, If DIP SWITCH3 is OFF. it can be used as a general purpose Input and it connected directly to the PC port. All Input use for E STOP, HOME SENSOR, LIMIT SWITCH ,etc.When DIP SWITCH3 is ON Input5,Input6,Input7,&Input8 multiplex with PC parallel port pin 15 For HOME INPUT and Input9,Input10,Input11,Input12,Input13,Input14, Input15,&Input16 multiplex with PC parallel port pin 13 For LIMIT SWITCH INPUT
