Brandon S. Hill President
Founder and President of Fusion Advisory Services,
Brandon Hill was recently named by the Birmingham
Business Journal as one of the “top 5 must-follow real
estate execs” in the area and was profiled by B-Metro
Magazine in its recent feature “NEXT: A new generation of young people are
pouring their hearts into Birmingham and making this a better city for all of us.”
Through Fusion’s economic development consultancy and tax credit brokerage,
Brandon provides advice and capital to projects in the Southeast, with a focus on
underserved states and rural areas. These projects often utilize Federal, State and
local incentives and have high community impact that would otherwise be
unavailable, such as job creation, rehabilitation of historic buildings, increased
access to fresh food, and provision of social, medical and educational services.
Through specialization in public/private financing with multiple layers of
complex financing, in the last two years Brandon has arranged over $10 million
in combined tax credit equity and bridge funding in Alabama alone, and
currently represents a pipeline of over $50 million such transactions in three
states. His most recently completed project provided financing for the
rehabilitation and conversion of Birmingham's 91-year old Historic Redmont
Hotel into Alabama's first luxury property to carry the Curio, a Collection by
Hilton flag.
Prior to founding Fusion, Brandon spent over 10 years in public accounting and
consulting providing professional services for PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst &
Young, and Fortune 1,000 corporations across the USA, Canada, and Europe, in
the fields of insurance, banking, real estate investment, healthcare, higher
education, and manufacturing. His clients have included AIG, Union Planters
Bank, Protective Life, HealthSouth Corporation, the University of Alabama
System, Wolseley plc., Stock Building Supply, Ferguson Enterprises, Southwire,
Gestamp, Southern Company, Alabama Power, and Harbert Management
Corporation. After having resided in New York and Austin, and spending
extended stints in Toronto, Memphis, and Atlanta during his career, Brandon
decided in 2012 to plant roots in Birmingham by founding Fusion. Since joining
the entrepreneurial wave and resurgence of the Magic City, Brandon has been
active in the advocacy for and implementation of new economic development
programs in the State of Alabama, such as the Alabama New Markets Tax Credit
and Alabama Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit.
Brandon is an associate member of ULI-the Urban Land Institute and currently
serves as Chair for Mission Advancement for ULI Birmingham. In this role, he
ensures that ULI practices, policies, and programs are integrated into the District
Council's activities and outreach, and is currently coordinating the application
process for ULI Birmingham to gain recognition as a stand-alone council as ULI
Alabama. Brandon's community involvement also includes service as Director of
local non-profits YPBirmingham and Bessemer Hall of History, and as a member
of the Rotaract Club of Birmingham. A native and resident of Birmingham,
Brandon holds an International Baccalaureate Diploma from the IBO in Geneva,
Switzerland and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of
Alabama.
