BRAINERD EAGLE NEWS Aerie #287 Volume 24 Issue 2 July 2020 Message on Behalf of the Worthy President John Vogt Welcome back to the club, it has been a tough time for all. We are open and functioning the best we can with restrictions. With that said I would like to thank the Auxiliary officers and Aerie officers for working through the shut down along with everyone that has donated at this time. It is very much appreciated by all. With no Crow Wing County Fair this year and no 4th of July parade we will try and do the best we can for the 4th of July (band, grill, bingo). Thanks again everyone and let's get dues paid. Message on Behalf of Madam President Lori Heinrich First of all I want to say thank you for everyone whom helped with the cleaning of the Club. COVID really hit everyone. Now that we are getting back to somewhat normal again and having our Brainerd Eagles Club open. We are needing help with finances; please consider a donation to help our Club stay open and afloat any amount is appreciated. I'm excited about all our new members (welcome!) and hoping that new and old members will start coming to the meetings. As always please welcome everyone who comes into our Club. Thankyou Lori. Aerie Trustees/Officers Update —Ron Shelito, Past President Welcome back to the Club Eagles members. As of June 10 the Brainerd Eagles Club re-opened for business. The bar, social room and kitchen are back in business. Our opening comes with some restrictions as per the Governor’s order. Listed below are key points that describe how club business will operate for the foreseeable future. Patron occupancy is limited to 50 percent of the club capacity. We have determined that to be a maximum of 113 people in the bar and social room at one time. We do not anticipate this to be a problem, but we may have to count customers for certain busy events such as Bingo. Also please be prepared to show your membership card as we will make every effort to give preference to members.\ ll customers are asked to practice social distancing when in the club. With that in mind we have removed every other stool from the bar and about one third of the chairs from the tables in the bar and social room. This will help us meet our capacity limits as well. Patrons are encouraged to wear masks in the building. Kitchen hours will be the same as before the shut-down. Kitchen staff are required to wear masks and gloves. When working the fryer or flat top, gloves are not required. Counters and tables will be sanitized on a regular basis. Bands are scheduled for the following dates this summer: July 4 Muddy Water (4 p.m. to 8p.m.), July 17 Mark Petersen, and August 21 Tail Gunners. We ask that you come and enjoy the music while seeking creative ways to social distance in the process. I can’t believe I said that. Bingo has resumed its regular schedule this week. Friday night no- band bingo will also take place with a schedule to be determined. We are seeking a part-time bartender to replace Nicki. If you know of a good candidate pass their name along to a Trustee or our President. The County Fair and Brainerd’s July 4th celebration are both canceled and thus our participation. These events are big money makers for our Club. It will be hard to make up for this lost revenue. A donation to the “Jar in the Bar” will help a lot. Brainerd Eagles 124 Front Street Brainerd, MN 56401 218-829-4216 Monday-Thursday 12 noon —10:30pm Friday & Saturday 11am—12mid Also Club leadership thinks it is important for a short time to revise our motto to read “Eagles helping Eagles”; with that in mind we are asking Club members to donate to our Club ($25 recommended). If enough members respond to this challenge, the increased revenue will help us get back on our feet faster and resume our community support activities to a fuller extent. Your good will offering will make a difference to the Eagles Club and ultimately to our community. It is great that we can be open again, and it is wonderful seeing everyone having a good time in the Club. Hopefully, we will be able to open without COVID restrictions sometime soon, but until then we ask for your patience. Your Trustees, Aerie Board, and Auxiliary Board are doing their best to provide for a fun, safe, entertaining atmosphere at our Club. Rules will likely continue to change for the next several months. We will do everything we can to abide by the spirit of the law while providing for the best possible experience for our members and guests. Painting of the Club A special thank you to our painter Richard Parkin (who also joined the Club!!) on painting the Club. It looks GREAT! Also a HUGE shout out to Hirschfield Paints for their donation of the paint. Cleaning Crew A GIANT thank you to those that helped with sanitizing the Club prior to opening—the entire Club from top to bottom was sanitized. The entire kitchen was emptied, scrubbed/sanitized, and organized. Security cameras were also installed in all areas of the Club. Thank you to Peggy Allord, Judi Vopatek, Joan Underland, Kim Bachman, Amanda Bachman, Keith Bachman, Dan Bachman, Mary Kalinoski, John Vogt, Sherry Vogt, Roger Hyatt, Wayne Hanson & Noah & Zach Day, Christy Lou Heidelberger.
