    BOUVERIE PLACE SHOPPING CENTRE

The Bouverie Place Shopping Centre in Folkestone was crying out

for a failsafe security system that would meet the needs of thebusy retail environment, with large car parks, a major supermar-ket and a bus station next door. CBES completed the security sys-tems for the shopping centre and integrated ASDA supermarket, representing a combined security package in excess of 500,000.

ApproachFrom the first, the approach was to understand the retail environment and thesecurity pressures before specifying the system. Working with the consultantand prospective centre management team, CBES recommended modifying theoriginal specification to incorporate fixed, high resolution cameras in critical areas,

whilst still giving 100% perimeter and shopping mall coverage by PTZs. Both theconsultant and management team accepted the recommendations. The resultant80 camera system has roughly a 70/30 split in favour of statics.

SpecificationCBES chose Norbain and American Dynamics as preferred suppliers for recording, matrix and PTZ Cameras. Their advanced compression algorithms on the new1.6Tbyte Intellex Ultra offered the highest recording rates, front of house at realtime, while still giving more than 31 days recording.

The AD1024 Matrix gave expandability and functionality above the consultants

requirements and interfaced directly with the bank of DVRs.

CBES employed Intech Furniture to help design the Security Room furniture andMonitor Wall. Fourteen 19 screens and one 42 screen allow the security teamunparalleled coverage.

In conjunction with the large CCTV system CBES also took on the completeintruder alarm system, the site wide retailer intercom system, the network ofCustomer Help Points and access control.

CBES services involved in this project:

    Security Systems

    Client Benefits:

Fully integrated effective security system throughout the shopping centre

The system is ready to be networked into Folkestone Town Councils system on completion of their newcontrol facility and also offers viewing rights to NCP for car park cameras

The system uses NVT technology and by using multi-core cable breaks this extensive site into usablezones with distribution hubs at specific areas

Feeding cameras from the hubs via UTP cable kept the costs down and the wiring schedule simple.
