What is Spiritual Direction?
Throughout the centuries, Christians have sought one-on-one prayerful
support, guidance in discernment, and creative challenge in their faith
journeys through the company of spiritual directors. In spiritual direction,
believers meet confidentially with “someone who can help us see and name
our own experience of God. Each of us needs to grow...to a knowledge of
the way the Spirit works in our own lives. We need to learn to recognize the
daily tracings of divine grace and to respond to them… Spiritual directors
act as companions, encouraging and supporting us, praying for us, listening
to us.” (Marjorie J. Thompson)
The goal of spiritual direction is not to fix problems but rather to recognize
where God is at work and to assist with growth in prayer and other spiritual
disciplines.
The cost is a suggested fee of $25-$50 paid to the spiritual director.*
If you are interested in learning more, please feel free to approach Catherine
Reichel ([email protected]), Darlene Pinter ([email protected]),
or Michelle Josefson ([email protected]) in person or by email.
*If the cost is prohibitive, please approach us to discuss options.
