A message from Brad

Welcome to week 7 everyone!

What a fantastic few days of soaking rain. It was

lovely to listen to the rain on the roof for a

prolonged period of time!

I begin this weeks newsletter by recognising our

year six student Jetty Mason who is number one in

Australia for beginners in the two handed class in

Cutting. Jetty competes against adults in her class

at a series of events around the state and also into

Victoria. Jetty will now be promoted into the next

class which is the Rookie class for one handed

cutting. Jetty will also need to swap horses and will

begin to ride her mothers horse, Blue, in upcoming

events. Jetty has a long term plan to compete in

her mothers class, opens non pro. What an

amazing feat! Well done Jetty!

I will be out of the school this Friday as I attend

effective reading training in Gundagai. Mrs

Keatinge will be making a guest appearance in my

absence.

On behalf of Bongongo Public School, I wish

Rachel Guttler and Rob Harris all the very best for

their upcoming wedding this weekend. I am sure

the day will be everything you guys have dreamed

of and your lifelong journey together will bring

happiness, fulfilment and treasured memories!

That’s about all for this week. Enjoy the week

everyone!

Brad

A message from Miss Guttler

Week 7, I can’t quite believe it….

A) because we’re half way through the term!

B) because I’m getting married this Saturday!!

Even though I am on leave from tomorrow till next Tuesday I have left learning for all students to keep routines running smoothly and brains ticking. Sound Focus Week 7: K- Nn

1&2- Nn & ee

Sound Focus Week 8: K- Cc & Kk 1&2- Cc, Kk , or During our afternoons as a whole school we have been learning about ‘coding’ in technology lessons. Students have been very engaged learning things like What coding is? How and why we use it? This week K-6 had a go at some coding in getting a dog from A to B. We then tried our own coding around the classroom. INTERNATIONAL READ TO ME DAY is coming up and we are looking for some volunteers in our community to come into our school on Friday 20

th

March and read to our students at 10.30am- 11.30am with morning tea to follow. If you know of anyone in our community who would like to come up to the hills of Adjungbilly for a read and a cuppa, please get them to call the school. Creative Arts: During Creative Arts this week we

discussed ‘changes’. We spoke about how we have

just changed seasons from Summer to Autumn.

“The earth orbits around the sun that causes the

seasons to change’” -Jetty

“When the seasons change the trees start to change

because of the weather, then the leaves change

colours.”- Finn

“A baby lamb changes into a sheep”- Max

We then looked at an animal that changes from one colour to another or even multiple colours, the Chameleon. We ready the story called ‘The Mixed up Chameleon’ By Eric Carle, we also watched some amazing footage of a chameleon By David Attenborough. Take a look at our mixed up chameleons.

Hunting with Stan “George get the two guns and the kelpies were going hunting, said Dad.

I ran inside, grabbed the two guns some bullets and put it in the buggy then tied the kelpies up to the

buggy.

Dad was waiting in the buggy, Stan sitting beside him on the seat,” can we bring Stan?”.” Okay” sighed

Dad.

We set off in the buggy out to the back of our farm with 3 kelpies, 1 fox terrier, two guns, and about ten

bullets, I wished I had brought more bullets but I was in a hurry.

We were out pretty far now I had opened eight gates! Searching around from paddock to paddock not

seeing anything. I was now losing interest when suddenly Will the dog was picking up a scent and so was

Bud and Rover we were close to something. Dad stopped the buggy we got out and loaded the guns. But

then the dogs stopped sniffing and moving the scent was gone, so we got back in the buggy. As we were

getting closer to a gully at the bottom of the hill the dogs started barking. Stan who was sitting on my lap

dug his claws into my knees he saw something that I didn’t. We were so close to the gully when 21 pigs

ran out of it! Bang! Bang! Got one Bang! Got another! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! “Got a couple more” said

Dad. Bang! Bang! Bang! A few more! We got six pigs before we ran out of ammo.

We grabbed the knifes and let the dogs go woof woof woof! The pigs ran back and forth and back and

forth the dogs had three of the fifteen pigs left pinned to the ground. There were two sows and Stan had

himself his first piglet.

How I forgot to shut the front gate

On my birthday I had left the gate open to Pepper Long horn, the bull. Pepper lived right next to

mums prized cows. She was waiting to get a bull in, in 1 week. She loved those cows more then she

loved me.

I had told mum that I was going for a ride. Going past Pepper I remembered I had forgotten to feed

him because we were away for a week. So I let him out. He went running out at rapid speeds.

When I was in the furthest paddock, it hit me like a big golden of shock .I madly started bolting on

Cooch .But it was too late, Mum was in Tumut. I got him out but the damage was done.

Mum got home, I acted natural.

9 month later the calves wore born. Mum asked me to go check the cows. There were 3 born that were

all black but they had little nobs on them .These were mums cows that she had been waiting for. Man

mums is going to kill me. I went to the bunker and found Dad, I asked him what to do.

That was close, as mum came out because we were talking. Mum took one look at the calf that was white and brown. I’m surprised that I can sit down now.

Who forgot to shut the gate?

One Saturday morning, we left to play cricket at Tumut. We were in such a hurry. I opened the gate and in

such a hurry I left it opened. We played cricket and had so much fun until I remembered that I forgot to

shut the gate.

In my mind I was going crazy. I was imagining getting home and what they would say. So many things

were going through my head. Dad finished his game of cricket and it was getting closer to the big

moment. We went to the pub and had our dinner. Then mum said the words. “It’s time to go home”.

When we got home I was waiting for them to say the words.

“Who forgot to shut the gate”! Dad yelled.

“It wasn’t me” Harvey replied. I could tell he was scared. Mum looked straight at me and I knew she knew I forgot to shut the gate. All I could see was destruction in the yard. All of the plants were gone the cows had eaten all the grass, I was done for good. “Come with me”! Mum yelled.

By Archie

I went on the motorbike to help Dad.

Dad said,” Harvey don’t forget to shut the gate”. l said” okay l will shut the gate” then l said” okay l will shut

it when l drive my motorbike up the paddock”. Suddenly a plane flew over it scared me l took off so fast l

forgot to shut the gate.

All the cows went through the gate Dad was not happy.

“Oh no a flat tyre”

On Saturday we were going to Adelaide. So we started to pack. I packed my iPad and scooter.

Off we went. Suddenly we came on to a rough road. It had sharp rocks. Then POP, oh no a flat tyre.

Then we realised it was a nail, luckily we had a spare tyre on the back, but that was flat too so we had to

camp there. Then mum rang the tyre guy, they were coming ,then he swapped it so off we went.
