ORGANIC & SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE4-YEAR MAJORThe organic food and beverage market is one of the fastest growing segments of agriculture, with retail sales increasing between 10 and 20 percent annually since 1997. The growing demand for organic products has created the need for employees who understand the unique production, processing, and marketing approaches used in organic and sustainable agriculture. This revolutionary new major was the first of its kind to be offered in the United States. Students in this major take a diverse array of courses in the agricultural, economic, and social sciences, as well as a number of courses focused on organic and sustainable production practices.
