Our “Thanks” to these individuals for generously investing their time in United Way and the community.

We apologize if we missed your name. Thank you to each and every one of you!

Bob personified the spirit of volunteerism. His response to any greeting was always “MAGNIFICENT”. This one word embodied Bob’s attitude towards his community, his family and friends. Personal hardship taught him to seek out those who were hurting, giving them unconditional love and support. United Way benefited from his wisdom. The many different roles through which Bob served our community encompassed the total United Way mission. He will live on in our hearts – he truly made a difference. Those who receive this award will represent and continue his spirit through their United Way volunteerism.

OUR VISION We will be a leader in Door County by facilitating, promoting, and ensuring the availability of services that meet the needs of the community as an effective and efficient conduit for philanthropic resources.

MISSION STATEMENT Empowering people is the focus of United Way. We identify community needs and foster synergy between business, government, individuals, and non-profits to improve lives and thereby strengthen the entire community.

annual caMPaiGnand coMMunity investMent

Every year United Way of Door County partners with thousands of individual donors, corporations, volunteers, advocates, government agencies and other nonprofits who are committed to making our community thrive and be the best it can be by contributing to the United Way Annual Campaign.

Communities can thrive only if their children are thriving – babies are born healthy, children are reading proficiently by third grade, youth are graduating from high school prepared for college, careers and life; supported by parents who can provide secure homes, healthy food and access to doctors to keep them well. A community where people are educated, employed, healthy and housed, with transportation to steady jobs and access to good healthcare.

Through the Annual Campaign, United Way provides resources for the best programs that support a thriving community.

investMent decision ProcessUnited Way invests its campaign dollars in addressing big social issues that no one organization or solution can address by itself. The Community Investment process is United Way’s method for annually reviewing and evaluating the funding applications submitted by nonprofit agencies to determine the level of funding that will be provided each year. Our unique system allows us to remain transparent and accountable, while distributing donations to 31 programs making lasting changes in our community.

This process ensures that your contribution is invested in the best possible way and has the greatest impact. Volunteers, who are also donors, are selected to serve on the Community Investment Committee. Last year, 7 volunteers served, donating nearly 700 hours of their time. Next, they submit their recommendations to the Board of Directors for final approval. Then, those dollars were distributed to agency partners to be used during the 2018 fiscal year.
