On September 26, 2019, a Futures Conference was held to discuss and collect feedback from the community regarding the future of education in Cabell County. Items discussed included emerging trends, technology, and facility needs.
Approximately 150 community members, staff, parents, students, and administration from Cabell County Schools gathered at the St. Mary Conference Center.

On November 21, 2019, a Community Meeting was held (one meeting at each high school) to discuss and collectfeedback from the community regarding the future of education in Cabell County. Items discussed includedfacility adequacy, facility age, and CTE programming.
After a short presentation from Cooperative Strategies, Scott Leopold, participants were asked to complete aquestionnaire individually as well as in small groups. The groups discussed the same questions that wereposed to individuals and had to discuss the items to come to a consensus.

• Not all facility needs will require a bond program.
• Smaller projects like elementary HVAC or roofing projections can be funded with dollars that the
District can allocate out of the general fund.
• Larger projects like High School HVAC replacements, major renovations, and additions will likely
require bond dollars.
• Just because you do not see a specific project outline in an option does not mean it will not get
funded in the next 10 years (example, several facilities has received safe school entry upgrades
outside of the 2010 CEFP recently).
• The options focus on major projects that would likely require bond dollars.

In total, there were 72 individual comments and1,517 online questionnaires collected.A cross-section of the Cabell County communitywas represented in the results with respondentsself-affiliating with every school. Some commonthemes from the questionnaires include:
• Restroom facilities need improved and renovated• Athletic fields being equitable across the county• People seem to be against the consolidation of schools• Student safety; both physical and health safety were a
concern• HVAC issues at various schools is not equitable as well as
flooring, roofs, electrical, and other systems.
