onomi knew she has no escape. The General will surely track her and capture her all at once before

she can think of another step. But she has to try; she would rather die than to stay in that prison.Faster as her feet can get her, Sonomi ran to the seemingly endless forest path heading south of

the city of Otoko. Her dress of a tattered blue kimono flowed in the wind and created a gentle rustling

among the thick bushes shes passing by. Her heart pounded hard --- shadows were following her.

She could not help thinking how she had ended in this mess after her much-awaited 18th

    birthday. Well,

no one in her family did know about her terrifying fate as a slave in that Tsukishiro Palace until the

General kicked their door open and pulled her out so instantly. Yes, it was despicable to do it to a very

unknowing girl. However, Sonomi knew shes no ordinary. Her hand can perform more tricks than a very

    trained and experienced wizard can.

Her chest tightened as her lungs tried to gasp for air as she was fleeing very fast that her body could not

keep up. Sonomi ducked under a large cave-like formation of the roots of a cypress tree, and hid to

catch her breath. She gazed at her hands, now filthy because of dirt and blood. Ever since she was a

child she never saw her hands fit for a girl. They were horrid --- and powerful. However, if it werent for

them, shes still might be in that prison waiting for her next assassination work of another innocent man.

If looked at a distance, her hands seemed quite the normal body parts. But gazed closely, they got

curious marks on them. Some jagged lines running from both of her wrists, going across and around the

fingers and finishing the pattern with circles on each of her palms. She used to ask her mother about

them, but she always say she doesnt know anything. Questions popped in her young mind back then ---

and that fateful day came when she was twelve that the first manifestation of her power occurred.

I can still remember how it all happenedI was so scared that I was coming to the point that I wanted

to shout. But instead of voice, light came out of me and my hands glowed Sonomi thought as she

traced the lines in her hands.

As she lingered in her thoughts, the General stood before Sonomi without her knowing. She clasped her

hands on her mouth in shock and pushed herself at the very corner of the cave-like structure. She

started to cry. Sonomi knew begging freedom would be futile --- the Emperors merciless.

The General, however, acted unusually. He bent down to her and offered his hand to her.

Come, Sonomi-chanor we would be both caught. His features werent the same as the time he

pulled her out of their house to bring her to the palace. He was kinder and gentler, and this made

Sonomi suspicious. But she knew she has no other choice. Sonomi nodded slowly and reached for his

hand. As he pulled her gently out of the cave, he lifted her up and carried her in his brawny arms.

Hey, what are you doing? Put me down! She began pushing him away.

Stop moving, Oujo-chan! You might fall! It would be easier if I will be the one to run The General said

it with his piercing eyes seriously conveying the message. Sonomi silenced and stopped her struggling.

    Thank youNow, lets go.

However, a lingering doubt haunted Sonomi.

Did he just call me a princess?

The night moved slowly in the sky as the General sped deeper into the forest, the freezing winds stung

Sonomisskin but she couldnt tell her master to slow down. She knew that the Emperors Yoru knights

act like shadows that their presence doesnt actually say their involvement in the place. They might be

there waiting to pounce the unknowing prey.

The Emperor, according to some stories, has also a curious power. He can shift from young to old and

vice versa, in any age he want to, totally creating a remarkable stealth in dealing with different people

belonging to varying stages in life. But she hasnt seen him yet, and she would rather not. Hes the mind

behind her abduction, and the despicable tasks in her slavery that gave her a negative impression about

    her hands.

She closed her eyes and felt the surroundings for an imbalance. The General was not that in hurry

anymore. And the night regained its pace.

Theyre not following usthose knights Sonomi whispered as she fluttered her eyes open. If youre

going to kill me or take me back, do it now before this ends in a battle

Hearing this, the General stopped. The winds following him rustled his black cape and ruffled his

ponytail of ebony hair. He smiled quite mysteriously, that Sonomi felt a sudden chill.

Why would I do that? Besides, Im not demanding you your trust that quicklybut I will surely have it.

Dont try and brag about the power to sway people because I believe none of your lies

Still sharp-tonguedI bet Prince Akira would have a hard time taming the little girl

Who? Whos Prince Akira? And are you bringing me to him? Sonomi felt the panic in her voice that she

will again shipped like a commodity to another slave-driver. She began to struggle and jumped out of his

    grasp.

Hey, Sonomi-chan! The General bent to her again, but the girl dodged and stepped back. She shook

    her head.

No! No more! Sonomi felt her tears flowing in rivers across her cheeks. Shes so scared and angry at

the same time. Her hands crumpled at her sides, started to bleed. Even her hands are invulnerable from

all physical harm, she can still inflict it to herself if she wanted to.

Princess The General whispered as he saw her cry. His eyes however remained cold. Your hands

You have nothing to do with it! Leave me alone! She said it so loud that the General grabbed her

instantly and began to run again.

    Put me down! Hey!

The General did not speak. No matter what the princess has to be presented to her future partner, may

it be in the different dimension.

Morning dawned and light poured from the gaps of sailing clouds in a spring day. It was serene and calm

in every corner of the Kingdom, but Sonomi seemed to be outside of this. She was standing in front of

the General who keep on soothing her.

    Im leaving!

But you have nowhere to go, Sonomi-chan. Come to me now He lent his hand smiled. And lets

    treat your wounds.

Fraud! Liar! She yelled at him. Im never leaning to you!

The General went serious and walked to her quickly. His cold features were piercing and strong. Sonomi

made it to a run, however backwards. She felt her back touch a solid surface. She shielded her face with

    her hands.

    Stop!

The General stopped in front of her and bent down.

No, Im not hurting you anymoreIm here to protect you.

He got a vial from his pocket, an amethyst one, and put some of the purple liquid on his lips. Then, he

leaned and kissed her hands. Sonomi shivered as she felt him in her personal space.

Her wounds started to heal and weakness seemed to drift away. It was the Sap of Bluebells of the Mist,

a special substance used by knights in the Palace exclusively that could heal almost anything. It was

carefully produced by a single person in the entire Kingdom: the Lady of Butterflies. She alone knew the

    process.

As he pulled away, Sonomi was blushing red in shame. The General found this quite amusing, that he

chuckled a little at the sight of her.

Cornering you really makes you the girl you arethe cute version of the rebellious princess.

Shut up! And dontdont do that!

Come onI know where to go He walked to her, but she stepped back and shook her head.

In your dreams that I would consider the offer She put her hands on her hips and walked at a

    different dimension.

The General sighed and picked her up almost surprisingly.

    What the? Hey! You!

The General leaned to her face close enough for her to stop talking.

Do you want me to do what I did earlier but this time to close that talkative medium of yours?

Sonomi covered her face with her hands. There still this trauma he brought about when he normally

whipped her when she fails to do the assignments, and this aura was shot to her again. Her body

trembled and she began to cry.

Sorry, Sonomi-chan, if I did not only hurt you physically back then, but tremendously on your psyche.

He bowed his head and continued the journey. Passing through the breathtaking nature draped with theblue sky for background should make someone smile, but none of the two found this beauty. They ate

the fruits and nuts gathered by the General away from each other. Sonomi was not even touching the

    food in front of her.

Dont worry I did not put poison in it The General said as he ate his. But seeing her stand at the

corner of his eye, he began to sigh sadly again. He has to stop her to continue his mission for the better

    benefit of all.

Sonomi sobbed softly as she sat under a big oak tree. With her hands and ankles tied, she couldnt argueabout eating her lunch. The General across her serving her the fruits and nuts --- it was like spoon

    feeding her without consent.

I dont want to eat anymore She said in a shaking voice. Sonomi shook her head as the General gave

    her a slice of apple.

Okayplease stop crying, Sonomi-chan. Its going to make you deplete energy faster The General

packed the excess food and fixed her hair in a ponytail.

Come on, we must travel. Prince Akiras waiting for your anticipated arrival.

Let me go! Im not going to be a slave again! If you wont release me, Ill make sure youll be the first

victim of my hands! Sonomi yelled gathering her courage to create the best threat she can.

Of course, she has the most powerful hands; they were hands of a legendary god however she hasnt

used them yet to the fullest. She commonly lifted things thousands of times heavier than her, or send

hundreds of knives with them, but nothing more; she was never asked to use her hands magic.

You and I both know that you havent tried to use them even once. And also, whether you like it or not,

youll be a part of a kingdom but not as a slave, but as a wife to the prince who himself possesses

another body part of the legendary god.

The General smiled as he looked up in the heavens.

And the new era of light will begin!

Sonomi breathed heavily as she untied herself, but all her actions were futile. She groaned as her wrists

turned red. Blood smeared lightly on the ropes.

Stop hurting yourself, Sonomi-chan. Those are anti-magic ropes, and it repels any energy.

He bent down to her, and as he reached for her Sonomi opened her eyes to reveal them flashing with

    white light.

The General gasped and fell back on the grass. Her hands were glowing brightly and it felt like he was

sitting right in front of raging bonfire. Curiously though, none of the grass burned, nor a smoke welled

    up in the air.

Sonomi destroyed the ropes and her wounds started to heal as her own energy touched her. She stood

and began to exhaust her power. The General was alarmed. If the girl continued to do this, she would be

sleeping for a long, unpronounced time.

He pulled up his hand and revealed an oval ruby ring, and chanted. The accessory started to glow

powerfully and the wind turned quickly to a strong gale enveloping Sonomi. She immediately fell on the

    ground, unconscious.

The General sighed as he picked her up and looked down to her. He was mesmerized by her fast pace in

learning, as if shes motivated by anger. Such ability can truly tip the scale between the forces of good

and the army of evil. But her condition was totally unknown to him; he has to go to the Lady of

    Butterflies.

Shes such in a depressed state that her power suddenly reacted with it But shes alright. The Lady

wiped her forehead with a white cotton cloth partly wet with water. Sonomi wrinkled her eyebrows and

fluttered her eyes open. The gentle hands made her comfortable.

Who are you? She immediately sat and stared at the radiant woman beside the General. Please,

    dont hurt me

No dear, Im here to help you. She reassured and gave her a sweet smile. You have just used your

hands, and this young man here brought you to me when you collapsed---

Sonomi looked down and the Generals eyes went sad. The Lady giggled softly.

Is this a lovers quarrel? Im pretty good at giving advices.

I take it! Ill show you! She pulled the sword and pointed it at him. She has strong hands, that the

weight of the weapon did not burden her.

Oh myand I wont accept pleas of refusals. He began to attack. For a General, he was exemplary.

Sonomi spent her time dodging and ducking as he swung his sword skillfully. She knew she wouldnt win.

At last, she fell on the ground and felt the blade touch her neck. Sonomi let go of her sword.

Got you The General smiled in a proud way. I must admit, youve endured me longer than many of

    my opponents.

He slid his weapons on their sheaths at the sides of his armor, and stared down at his prize. The General

knelt in front of her and touched her hair.

Command number one is --- be a girl. She gaped and shook her head.

    What the?

And to do that, let me buy you clothes and make yourself pretty. Thats your consequence.

He tapped her head and smiled. Sonomi frowned and stomped after him.
