Zinc Plate Finish

Our electro zinc plate finish is to BS.1706:Fe/Zn 8 c1A and is intended to protect during normal storage and transit. It is not suitable as an ‘in service’ protection. We recommend that all our zinc plated products undergo further treatment (painting etc.) to provide the required level of corrosion resistance.

Galvanised Finish

Galvanising is to BSEN ISO 1461 (BS 729 : 1971)

Welding of galvanised and zinc plated parts releases fumes which are hazardous to health. Self-colour finish is recommended for parts requiring subsequent welding.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Door Locking Mechanisms

The choice of Locking Mechanism model depends on end frame and door design, and the test requirements for end wall and racking loads. We will be pleased to give detailed advice, but the following points should be considered.

1. Bushed mechanisms ensure a smooth operating action.

2. Steel doors can be fitted with weld-on or bolt-on brackets. Ply metal or G R P doors can only be fitted with bolt-on brackets.

3. Bolt-on brackets can be fitted after final painting of the door. If repairs are necessary, removal or replacement is simple.

4. The resistance to racking loads of bolt-on brackets depends on the bracket length and number of fixing holes. Short length weld-on brackets give better resistance to racking loads than short bolt-on brackets.

5. If racking forces are high, a combination of locking mechanisms with long and short brackets can be used. Short brackets are fitted to the locking mechanism near the hinged side of the door and long brackets are used nearest the centre of the door.

All locking mechanisms shown in this catalogue are supplied with forged handles and flush fitting keepers as standard, but can also be supplied in many other conditions to meet the demands of our customers. They can be supplied as loose parts (without tube) or fully welded ready for immediate fitting. If fully welded locking mechanisms are required, your attention is drawn to the order form on page vii. Completion of this form will ensure that your order is processed to your precise requirements.

Instructions for fitting of CAT 340 pivotal lashing ring

1. Weld pivotal ring sub-assembly to trailer cross member. Weld must be totally around retainer dish. (item 5).

2. Router hole in timber floor to suit pan. (item 1).

3. Fit rubber seal (item 3) over ring (item 4), then place pan over ring and fit rubber seal into hole in pan.

4. Screw pan (item 1) to timber floor.

5. Place seal plates (item 2) around ring, covering rubber seal and tack weld at 4 equal positions around outside diameter of seal plate.

Universally jointed to withstand loads enforced in any direction. Forged steel ring. Finish: galvanised. Ring assembly can be supplied without seal plates, rubber seal and pan if required. Capacity - 2.0 tonnes SWL
