FUNCTIONS OF PLASMA PROTEINS1- Nutrition: Plasma proteins are used in protein metabolism.

2- Blood clotting:Fibrinogen and prothrombin are essential for coagulation

of the blood. 3-Blood viscosity:

Fibrinogen and globulin play an important role in viscosity.

Viscosity is an important factor in maintaining the blood pressure.

4- Suspension of erythrocytes :

5- Immunity:

Gamma globulins used to exert passive immunity.

6- important for osmotic pressure.

FUNCTIONS OF PLASMA PROTEINS

7- Carrier:

Plasma proteins carry e.g. hormones, vitamin A

8- Capillary permeability:

They close pores in the capillary walls.

9- Buffering action:

They behave as weak acids in alkaline media

and weak base in acidic media.
