Mrs McGarva’s challenge – Jades

Write about the picture - you will remember these from class! Use the picture and the helping words to help you build some amazing sentences. Remember what Mrs McGarva always looks for – neat handwriting, longer sentences. Then find the missing words in your phoneme story.

Core LearningHaving explored fractions by taking part in practical activities, I can show my understanding of: • how a single item can be shared equally • the notation and vocabulary associated with fractions • where simple fractions lie on the number line

We have been learning lots about fractions. Here is a little check up to make sure you remember it all.

We are going to do a little bit of work after this on TIME so you also have a revision sheet to complete to remind you of our previous learning.

Personal Project/ Presentation Health and Wellbeing30 Days Wild

1st June was the start of 30 days wild which is organised by the Wildlife Trusts https://www.wildlifetrusts.org/. It asks people to join their annual nature challenge and do something wild every day for 30 days! I will continue to upload the daily challenges to Teams.

Oceans TopicThe Last Straw! We have been learning about our beautiful Oceans. Unfortunately, they are becoming badly polluted, especially by plastic waste. In your topic activity sheets this week there are 12 jumbled up statements. Can you rearrange them into:- 1 timeline of events – this will use EIGHT of the sentences – you will need to

put them in the right order.- 4 facts – the remaining 4 sentences are facts which link to certain parts of

your story.

*Challenge! Once you have completed the timeline activity, can you make a poster encouraging people to look after our oceans, especially through not littering? Think about the features of a poster, and about persuasive language!

Muirhead Trek to AfricaKeep an eye out for further information on this from Mr McCaw and P6! The Team we used for Muirhead Miles has now been renamed and has some new information on it - take a look!

Keeping in touch – Teams MeetingsThank you so much to those of you who have joined us so far. Don’t worry if you haven’t been able to. I will schedule some more Teams meetings over the next couple of weeks – join in if you can! Remember the guidelines below:

You would need to be logged into Teams to take part –use the app rather than the web browser.

You would need to have an adult nearby to take part. You would need to be on a device which has a microphone built in. You would be able to see and hear me, but I could only hear you, and you

could only hear each other (camera function is turned off for pupils in Glow to keep you safe).

Emoji Writing Challenge

Use the emoji generator https://perchance.org/emoji here to generate some random emojis. If you can’t access it, I have put some examples below.

Then with emojis you get, choose a challenge! For example, here are my emojis…

If I chose the “hot” challenge, I would write a sentence for each emoji:

1. I carefully carved my Halloween pumpkin with a sharp knife so that it looked like a scary face.

2. The whale came slowly to the surface and spouted up a giant spray of water.

And so on! Use the emojis below – or use a phone or tablet and just pick a few!

Write the word for every emoji which you generate.

For each emoji picture, write a sentence which contains that word.

Write a short story which uses all of the emoji words you generate.

Pascals – Stage 3 Common words

Pascals you should recognise ALL of these words (Fire Arrows and Jades it won’t do you any harm to give these a try too if you’d like to!).

1. With an adult, read through all the words and make sure you recognise them all. 2. Choose a spelling list of 15 of the words you think you would find tricky to spell

correctly. 3. Carry out one of our active spelling activities (or make up one of your own!) to

help to learn the words.
