LORD,TEACHUSTOPRAY(47).In the Summer of 1980, the Summer of my ordination as a priest, I sent this invitation to the high school seminarians and their families.“DearPilgrim,Peasecheckwith theDi-vineTravelAgenttoseeifyouaredestinedtobepartof a Pilgrimage by Canoe, down the Russian River,from Glory to Glory, and to the Kybe Tree.” I igured that a canoe trip would be a great way for the semi-narians to get to know me and one another before starting the academic year. Now that I was a priest I saw the value of transforming a fun vacation canoe trip into a pilgrimage and a glorious spiritual adven-ture. We would not only have a physical destination, such as, Monte Rio, we could also have a spiritual destination, such as, the Glory of God. I could cele-brate a daily Mass as an aid to making progress to-ward our spiritual destination even as we helped one another in numerous practical ways to reach our physical destination. I became fascinated by verse 18 in the 3rd chapter of St. Paul’s 2nd Letter to the Corin-thians: “Allofus,gazingon theLord’sglorywithunveiled faces,arebeing transformed fromglorytogloryintohisveryimagebytheLordwhoistheSpirit.”This verse described the spiritual goal of eve-ry disciple and told us how to get there. I did a study on the word, “Glory,” in the Bible. It has to do with God’s Presence. And, since God is LOVE, his Presence has to do with Communion and Relationship. Blessings, Fr. John

En el verano de 1980, de mi ordenación como sacerdote, envié esta invi-tación a los seminaristas de la escuela secundaria y sus familias. “Querido peregrino, Por favor, consulte con el Agente de Viajes Divino para ver si está des nado a ser parte de una Peregrinación en Canoa, por el Russian Ri-ver, de Glory to Glory, y al Kybe Tree.” Pensé que un viaje en canoa sería una excelente manera para que los seminaristas nos conocieran a mí y a otros antes de co-menzar el año académico. Ahora que era sacerdote, vi el valor de transformar un diver do viaje de vacaciones en canoa en una peregrinación y una gloriosa aventura espiritual. No solo tendríamos un des no sico, como Monte Rio, también podríamos tener un des no espiri-tual, como Gloria de Dios. Podría celebrar una misa dia-ria como una ayuda para progresar hacia nuestro des-

no espiritual incluso mientras nos ayudábamos unos a otros de numerosas formas prác cas para llegar a nues-tro des no sico. Me fascino el versículo 18 del tercer capítulo de la segunda carta de San Pablo a los Corin os: “Mas todos nosotros, que con el rostro descubierto re-flejamos como en un espejo la gloria del Señor, nos va-mos transformando en esa misma imagen cada vez más gloriosos: así es como actúa el Señor, que es Espíri-tu.” Este versículo describe la meta espiritual de cada discípulo y nos dice cómo llegar allí. Hice un estudio so-bre la palabra “Gloria” en la Biblia. Tiene que ver con la presencia de Dios. Y como Dios es AMOR, su Presencia

ene que ver con Comunión y Relación.

Los judios de Jerusalén enviaron una comisión de sacerdotes y levitas para preguntar a Juan quién era. El confesó rotundamente: -Yo no soy el Mesıás. Ellos le preguntaron -Entonces, ¿Eres tú, acaso Elıás? Juan respondió: -No soy Elıás. Volvieron a pregun-tarle: -¿Eres el profeta que esperamos? El contestó: -No. De Nuevo insistieron: -Pues, ¿quién eres? Tenemos que dar una respuesta a los que nos han enviado ¿Qué dices de ti mismo?
