Principal News Multi-Cultural Celebration

Tonight, our school will host the annual multi-cultural festival from 5:30pm. Families are invited to come along and see some

displays of student learning, watch a short concert by the students and enjoy a community dinner. This is the culmination of the

students learning in class. Each class has been studying a country all term. Parents are respectfully asked to bring along some

prepared meals to share. A detailed note from Mrs Tate was sent home this week. It promises to be an exciting night and I look

forward to seeing many families in attendance.

Chinese Dragon Dancers

As part of our multi-cultural and LOTE studies, a visiting performance was here today. It was an amazing performance which truly

enthralled the students. Thank you for supporting this extra curricula activity.

Tell Them From Me Surveys

Each year we seek information and feedback from our community about the school. We have initiated a survey, which only takes

about 10 minutes to complete, for parents and carers. I would dearly love to have 100% of families complete the survey. Split

families are invited to submit a survey each. You are able to complete a survey for each child or a single survey for the whole

family. Your intended cooperation is truly appreciated. The survey will close on Friday 21 September at 3:30pm.

Please log into the following web address to complete the survey: https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/blakebrook

Half Day Public Holiday

A half day public holiday has been gazetted for Lismore on Thursday 20 September. As a result our school will have no supervision

from 11:45am. A separate note was sent home last week with details and a request for parents to collect children before

12:00noon. Please note buses will not be running at this earlier time. I thank you for your assistance with this matter.

2019 Kindergarten Enrolments

We are currently taking enrolments for 2019 Kindergarten. If you have a child who is coming to Blakebrook next year, please

contact Wendy to arrange enrolment forms and other information. If you know of a family with a child ready for ‘Big’ school in the

local community, encourage them to contact the school for an appointment to discuss enrolment or to have a look at our wonderful

school.

Staff Leave

Next week, 17-21/9/18, I’ll be in Sydney attending School Sport Australia Soccer. Miss Stephens will be on 5-6 class and

Mrs Tate will be relieving Principal in my absence.

Mrs Perren is taking leave 17/9/18-17/10/18.

Mrs Tate is taking leave 27/9/18-28/10/18. Mrs Lord will be on K class for 27-28/9/18 and Mr Hoban for 15-28/10/18.

Have a great week - Allan Duroux

Storyboard Bus review We were all wowed by the Byron Bay Writer's Festival author, Zanni Louise, last Wednesday. She entertained us with reading from her own books and taught us how to become better writers using the same techniques as real authors to construct a story. How lucky were we to participate in this amazing opportunity. Thanks very much to the Byron Bay Writer's Festival and their Storyboard Bus! Dianne McInnes Teacher-Librarian

Touch Football Gala Day

On Tuesday ten 5-6 students travelled to Goonellabah for a Touch Football Gala Day. The squad has

been training for the past five weeks with Lochie Perren and Kim Anderson.

Blakebrook PS played five games throughout the day and scored tries in four out of five games.

The students enjoyed the day and improved their skills and confidence with every game.

Many Thanks to Lochie and Kim for

coaching and providing transport.

Well done to our Touch Footy squad:

Ozzy, Brayden, Tamzyn, Dane, Simon,

Wendell, Georgia, Drew, Ashlee and

Hannah.

~ Mrs Perren
