Principal News

2019 Kindy Transition Program

Our Kindy transition program commenced this week. It is fantastic to see the excitement in their little faces as they begin their

journey to ‘big school’ at Blakebrook next year. We welcome our new students and trust you enjoy your time at our school.

Transition continues next week

Monday 5th November – 9:15 – 3:15pm (whole day)

The whole day transition will see all students possibly sample another class for the day. The year 6 students will explore a day in

the life of a year 7 student with Mrs Perren.

Public Speaking

On Friday last week, four of our students represented our school at the ‘Big Scrub’ Community of Schools Public Speaking

competition held at Jiggi Public School. Django, Hayden, Jasmine W and Tamzyn all did a wonderful job. We are very proud of your

efforts.

P&C Meeting

The next meeting of the P&C will be on Monday 5th November commencing at 5:45pm in the school library. All families are invited

to come along and see the wonderful work our P&C does within the school and to ask any questions about the school. I look

forward to seeing you there.

Car crash Incident

As recently reported in the media, there was a car accident near our school on Tuesday this week. The driver was arrested by

police in the school grounds. This occurred after 4:30pm and no students were present on site.

K-2 Overnight Camp

Information has been distributed to our K-2 students and families for the biannual K-2 overnight camp at school. Families will

have the opportunity to set up a tent and camp overnight at school. Dinner and breakfast will be available. Please see the detailed

note previously sent home. The camp will be on the evening of Thursday 8th November.

For Sale

We have a spare year 6 shirt size 14 at the school (new). It is for sale for $20. First in, best dressed (no pun intended!). Contact

the office if you wish to purchase.

End of Year

The last day for students this year is Wednesday 19th December. Students are expected to attend each day the school is open.

Thursday 20th and Friday 21st December are scheduled as School Development Days. Our school staff have participated in

additional Professional Learning sessions and programs throughout the year in lieu of these days. Our school will be

non-operational on these days. SASS staff will be busy with mandatory end of year processes. Teachers may be on site but this is

their personal choice.

2019 Kindergarten Enrolments

We are currently taking enrolments for 2019 Kindergarten. If you have a child who is coming to Blakebrook next year, please

contact Wendy to arrange enrolment forms and other information. If you know of a family with a child ready for ‘Big’ school in the

local community, encourage them to contact the school for an appointment to discuss enrolment or to have a look at our wonderful

school

Have a great week - Allan Duroux

Year 6 Obstacle Course Race

Next Tuesday November 6th, the school will stop at 2:45pm to watch the annual Blakebrook Obstacle Cup.

Please come along and cheer our ‘12 jockeys and their trusty steeds’ through the course. Who will be our 2018 Cup winner?

Braydon - Speedy Gonzalez Millie - Harry Trotter Rorie - Retro Class Chick Tamzyn - Rainbow Ruby Bella - Squeaky Clean Tess - Elation Ozzy - Sparkly Cameron Jasmine T - Sweeper Dane - Queen of England Jasmine W - Clean Bandit Simon - Donkey Mystery Rider - Passing Wind This event is free.

PAYMENTS to school There are 2 payment methods available: CASH or POP ($5 minimum payment) POP = Parent

Online Payments

Send payment in with Permission/Advice Note to home class teachers. A note must be returned whether child is participating or not. Record POP receipt number on note.

Access to POP payments is via our school website : www.blakebrook-p.schools.nsw.edu.au

All school online payments MUST be made through POP (Parent Online Payments) accessed via our website using Visa & MasterCard debit and credit cards.

The P&C and the school operate entirely separately therefore all P&C payments go to the P&C and NOT the school.

Online payments for Book Club go directly to Scholastic and not through the school POP facility.

Partial Student Absences : new procedures repeat

It’s a Department of Education requirement that all partial absences (late arrivals/early leavers) are logged into the new attendance system, along

with whole day absences. To fulfil this requirement we ask that ALL students arriving late or leaving early be signed in/out on a pink slip by a parent at

the office, and complete the Late Arrivals/Early Leavers sheet.

All completed pink slips are to be retained by the teachers and the Late Arrivals/Early Leavers sheet is handled by the office staff.

Procedures are:

Arriving late : go to office with child, sign Late Arrivals/Early Leavers sheet PLUS fill in a pink slip; then hand pink slip to teacher on class.

Leaving Early : go to office, sign Late Arrivals/Early Leavers sheet PLUS fill in a pink slip; then hand pink slip to teacher on class and collect your child.

It’s not appropriate or safe to drop ‘late arrival’ children at the front gate and drive off. Parents/carers are responsible for safely handing over their

child to teaching staff, in alignment with Department guidelines.
