When charging thebattery for the first time, or afterprolonged storage, it will onlyaccept an B0% charge. Afterseveral charge and dischargecycles, the battery will attain fullcapacity. The battery maybecome warm while charging;this is normal and does notindicate a problem.

  • . To charge the battery, set thetool to the straight positionand insert the charger plug(10) into the connector (1 1).

    . Plug in the charger.Switch onat the mains.

    r Leave the tool connected to *recharger for at least 12 hours.

    The tool can be left connected tothe charger indefinitely.The charger may hum and becomewarm while charging; this is normaland does not indicate a problem.. Before using the tool, unplug

    the charger and disconnectthe tool from the charger.

    Adjusting the handle (fig. D)For optimum versatility, thehandle can be set to differentpositions.. Press the handle adjustment

    bulcon (4).Swivel the handle into thedesired position.Release the button.

    Manual spindle lock (fig. E)The manual spindle lock allowsyou to use the tool as a regularscrewdriver. You can give anextra twist to firmly tighten ascrew or to loosen a very tightscrew.

    To activate the spindle lock,turn the collar (2) to the Bsymbol. With the spindle lockagtivated, the tool cannot beswitched on.To release the spindle lock,turn the collar (2) to the [lsymbol.

    slide the on/off switch (1) tothe right and press it.

    Hints for optimum useo Always use the correct type

    and size of screwdriver bit.o {f screvrs are difficult to

    tighten, try appiying a smallamount of washlng liq,id or'soap as a lubricant.Use the spindle lock to loosenvery tight screws or to firmlytighten screws.Always hold the tool andscrewdriver bit in a straightline with the screw.When screwing in wood, it isrecommended to drill a pilothole with a depth equal tothe length of the screw.A pilot hole guides the screwand prevents splintering ordistortion of the wood. For theoptimum size of the pilot hole,refer to the table below.When screwing in hardwood,also drill a clearance hole witha depth equal to half thelength of the screw. For theoptimum size of the clearancehole, refer to the table below.

    Hold the tool as shown in fig. G.Gently knock the batterycover against a hard surfacesuch as a workbench toloosen the cover'.Remove the cover.Pull the battery out anddisconnect the wires toremove it from the tool.Place the battery in a suitablepackaging to ensure that theterminals cannot be short-circuited. Take the battery toyour service agent or a localrecycling station. Collectedbatteries will be recycled ordisposed of properly.
