Vitamin D is produced by your skinin response to exposure to ultraviolet

    radiation rom natural sunlight.

The healing rays o natural sunlight (thatgenerate vitamin D in your skin) cannotpenetrate glass. So you dont generatevitamin D when sitting in your car or home.

It is nearly impossible to get adequateamounts o vitamin D rom your diet.Sunlight exposure is the only reliable way togenerate vitamin D in your own body.

A person would have to drink ten tallglasses o vitamin D ortied milk each dayjust to get minimum levels o vitamin D intotheir diet.

The urther you live rom the equator, thelonger exposure you need to the sun inorder to generate vitamin D. Canada, theUK and most U.S. states are ar rom theequator.

Sucient levels o vitamin D are crucialor calcium absorption in your intestines.

Without sucient vitamin D, your bodycannot absorb calcium, rendering calciumsupplements useless.

Chronic vitamin D deciency cannot bereversed overnight: it takes months o

vitamin D supplementation and sunlightexposure to rebuild the bodys bones andnervous system.

Even weak sunscreens (SPF=8) block yourbodys ability to generate vitamin D by 95%.This is how sunscreen products actuallycause disease -- by creating a critical vitamindeciency in the body.

It is impossible to generate too much

vitamin D in your body rom sunlightexposure: your body will sel-regulate andonly generate what it needs.

I it hurts to press rmly on your sternum, you may be suering rom chronic vitaminD deciency right now.

Vitamin D is activated in your body byyour kidneys and liver beore it can be used.

Having kidney disease or liver damage cangreatly impair your bodys ability to activatecirculating vitamin D.

The sunscreen industry doesnt want you toknow that your body actually needs sunlightexposure because that realization wouldmean lower sales o sunscreen products.

Even though vitamin D is one o the mostpowerul healing chemicals in your body,

your body makes it absolutely ree. Noprescription required.

    that craggy Surface.

Mandiras ather, a ormer police ocial, was the strictestdisciplinarian. He worked hard to provide a comortablelie to his amily and relentlessly pushed his children to

higher achievements. As a thirty year old bank manager andmother o two, Mandira still remembers her humiliationand sorrow when her ather pulled her up in ront o theentire joint amily or not getting a First Division in herschool board exams. She elt he never really appreciatedher. As she grew up and began asserting her independence, she elt resentul and angry with him. With the years, sherealized that neither o them could change. How couldshe learn to understand and appreciate him, and have himreciprocate? The arrival o Mandiras rst child, Bunty, changed their lives. As the tot took his rst steps and

lisped his rst words, he became Ajjas pet. When herather thoughtully set aside a sum rom his hard-earnedretirement und or Bunty, Mandira realized that herathers way o showing love was dierent rom her own. This stern man showed his aection by practical deeds, not words. She now saw the pattern in his past. Thoughhe spoke little and was sparing with praise, he had alwayssomehow made arrangements to ull her dreams, savingmoney to send her abroad when her riends werent evenpermitted to study in a college in a dierent city. Hereelings towards her ather changed, and she ound it much

Ritikas ather, lived in the present moment, believing thattime could sort out many issues. He pushed her physically, enrolling her or lessons in swimming and judo when shewould rather have played with her dolls. As she grew older,Ritika wanted to plan ahead and nish her work early. Herather would advise her to take it easy and let things take

their own course. Ritika began to eel that her ather wastoo casual and unreliable, since he oten made her waitor the last minute or every little thing. He loved to playpranks, which Ritika ound embarrassing and childish asshe grew up. Ater moving to a new home with her husband,Ritika met her strict and remote ather-in-law. She beganto appreciate that her ather was a fexible man who lovedsurprises. Those once hated judo lessons saved her liewhen she was attacked by rowdies while returning ater alate evening at her oce. Her ather beamed with pridewhen she told this story, and she then realized how he had

    Some fatherS are

    naturally more nurturing.

They consider parenting as an opportunity to help theirchildren to realize their ull potential. They can easily be intune with their children emotionally, and be the growingchilds riend and companion. Jayas ather played a greatdeal with her as she grew up. She loved the way he wouldread to her rom picture books, acting out the parts withdramatic intensity. He persuaded Jayas mother to allowher to play in the mud as a tot, and experiment withclothes and makeup as she grew up. As wonderul as sucha parent may sound, they can also be over emotional and

He did leave inpeace, but when her classmate, Raghu, came to escort herhome at a late hour, his grilling angered her deeply. As theyears went by, Jaya realized that her ather actually oeredher a great deal o support and encouragement in lie, andrarely made her eel stupid or inadequate. Clearly a bit oover wrought emotion was worth putting up with since hewas generally so considerate and understanding.

the rational robotcan have a human heart.

Some athers are taciturn and highly logical by nature. They may seem emotionally distant, but they tend totreat their children as serious equals and encourageindependent thinking. Cynthias ather was a brilliant man,and constantly encouraged her to sharpen her mind withquizzes, puzzles and debates. As a child, she elt resentulthat she could never outwit him in an argument. Shesometimes elt that he was an arrogant robot who didntreally care or her, but was bringing her up as some sorto showpiece. When Cynthia grew up to be a successullawyer, she realized that her ather had taught her to thinklogically and clearly because he loved her and wished toinvest in her personal growth. Her ather wanted her toollow his ootsteps and become a journalist. But when thetime came, he overcame his initial blocks and encouragedher to choose or hersel because he loved her.
