Celebrations

Janamashtami

Children of Nursery and KG dressed as Radha and Krishna. They were shown a short animated movie ‘Little Krishna’ .

‘Krishn leela -a musical extravaganza’ a Special Assembly was presented by the students of KG A, showcasing the birth of Lord Krishna . All the students of classes Nursery and KG witnessed the online assembly .

Independence Day:

PPT/Video depicting the National Symbols of India was shown.

Quiz Time – National Symbols

Making of National Symbols using play dough

Hands on activity -Learning to button and unbutton their shirts.

Reciting/Singing of patriotic rhymes & songs.

The celebrations concluded with singing of the National Anthem.

CLASSES I & II

CELEBRATIONS

Independence Day :

Students of classes I & II conducted a quiz competition –on the topic ‘KNOW THE NATIONAL LEADERS.’ They also attempted an online quiz (in the google form) about knowing the National Symbols. Janamashtami Celebration- Stories from the life of Krishna.

Mothers were invited to narrate the stories from the life of Krishna. Chil-dren too shared a few perfor-mances. National Potato Day : Discuss-ing interesting facts about po-tato. Children were excited to learn few amazing facts about their favourite vegetable – Potato.

Ganesh Chaturthi Celebration (Clay Modelling) : Chanting the Ganesh Van-dana and making the idols of Lord Ganesha was a great hands on experience that all the students thoroughly enjoyed . \

Making a First Aid Box- Discussion on the importance of keeping one at home. Life Skill Activity-Making of an Emergency Directory : How to make it and it’s relevance were the focal points of this activity. Personal Safety- Videos were shown to make children aware of the measures that one should take to keep oneself safe. This was followed by a discussion and an interactive session wherein children presented their views on what they would do to avoid or combat such situation. Honing up the thinking skill in children was also the focus of the activity.

ART & CRAFT ACTIVITIES:- Monsoon Season in August

Art and Craft work was related to the festivals celebrated this month and the rainy season (Janamashtami, Independence Day, Onam).

CURRICULUM CONNECT WITH ART AND CRAFT AND OTHER ACTIVITIES (EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING):

CLASS I:-

Research Work- Drawing of vegetables that grow under the ground an extension to the listen-ing skill-‘The Enormous Turnip’As an introduction to

the Hindi letter and to decorate the same using paper tearing.

‘House with Origami,’- Craft work- By folding paper, children made houses and drew their family members in it. Later, they pasted the same in their scrap book, observed the other places in their neighbourhood and drew them around their house.

Making a Necklace of ‘th’ words. ‘Arranging the ages of the family members’ using strips of paper.

Doodle Art inside NUMBERS ( children’s date of birth)

SPECIAL ASSEMBLY:- ‘BEING SAFE’

Reiterating the importance of being safe, the students of classes II E and II F presented a Special Assembly wherein through dramatization and dance, they shared the guidelines and the precautions one must adhere to, in order to safeguard themselves at all times.

OTHERS:-

Virtual Elocution– The students recited the English poem ‘ My Neighbourhood’ with great zeal.

PODCAST :- Podcasts were prepared in all subjects by the teachers and shared with the students every week. These podcasts were discussed with the students during the online sessions.

CLASSES III-V

Class IV D presented a special assembly ‘India at 74’. The as-

sembly showcased the sacrifices made by the immortal heroes

of India to attain Independence from the British.

Human compassion and generosity towards fellow human be-

ings and animals was highlighted in the special assembly ‘Being

Human’ by class V E.

Activities:

Talent Show was organised for the students wherein the students showcased their

aptitude and interest in dance, fireless cooking, art and craft.

Inter House EVS Quiz presentation was held where the students actively partici-

pated.

Inter School Activities:

Inter School Art Presentation was held where 9 schools participated. The theme

was Folk Art Of India.

Inter School Doha Vachan Presentation was organised where 9 schools participat-

ed. The participants recited dohas by Sant Kabir Das and Sant Rahim Das along

with the meaning of each doha.

Farewell:

School bid Farewell to our VP Ms. Anu Norula with plenty of good wishes for a bright and successful future.

Achievements:

Birla Vidya Niketan was awarded the rolling trophy in an Inter School competition” Ignited Minds’ organized by Indraprastha In-ternational School, Dwarka. The results are as follows:
