In the wake of the current pandemic, BBNC is
committed to ensuring regular communication
with participants, members, volunteers, staff and
the greater community.
At this time, it is important for everyone to
protect themselves, their families and home!
For BBNC, this also means educating ourselves
and others in order to have as current information
as possible. BBNC will take every measure to
ensure that we access this information and pass
this along to you the membership.
On March 13th, the City of Toronto made the
announcement of the closure of all city run
community and recreation centres.
As BBNC is located within a city community
centre, Birchmount Community Centre,
Birchmount Bluffs Neighbourhood Centre (BBNC)
is impacted by this closure.
A summary of that announcement is below:
Based on recommendations from Toronto’s
Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Eileen de
Villa, to help slow the rate of COVID-19
infection in Toronto and protect vulnerable
populations including seniors, people with
compromised immune systems, and
individuals experiencing homelessness, the
City of Toronto has cancelled most City-
operated programs and closed a number of
City facilities.
Services and facility operations are
tentatively scheduled to resume Sunday,
April 5.
We encourage you to reach out with any
questions or concerns. Please email
[email protected]. This email is monitored
regularly and will be responded to as soon as
possible.
We thank you for your commitment to the health of the community and encourage everyone to wash your hands and practice social distancing.

strengthen both lower and upper body and improve muscle
tone using a high intensity interval training (HIIT) approach
that burns calories and fat fast.
OLDER ADULT/FUNCTIONAL FITNESS-gentle/intermediate This functional fitness class will include a variety of
workouts including, resistance tubing, weights and
weight-bearing exercises, stretching and

preventing injuries, correcting muscle imbalances,
and creating a stronger more able body. We are
training for life!"
QIGONG-gentle Qigong (pronounced chi-Kung) is a gentle exercise, similar
to Tai Chi, but without the martial arts influence. Qigong
works as a slow movement, breath, posture and healing
exercise. It strengthens the body gently, teaches breathing
and promotes a sense of relaxation.
RESTORATIVE YOGA This class is suitable for all, but targeting it for absolute
beginners and those with limited mobility. Restorative yoga
deeply relaxes the body and rejuvenation through reclined
yoga poses with support, meditation, and guided
visualization. Summery of benefits: improves capacity for
healing and balancing, enhances flexibility, physical and
mental symptoms that are stress related, anxiety, chronic
pain and helps with sleep.
STRETCH & STRENGTH Use your own body and mat work to strengthen and
tone your entire body. Develop and improve core
strength, balance and posture. Great for beginners
or as a compliment to a more intense class!

benefit the entire physiology including the tendons,
joints, spine, connective tissue and internal organs. It
restores the calmness and peace of mind that is lost
from our daily lives.
TONE UP In this class, we focus on training our entire body to
be stronger, leaner, calorie burning machines! In
just one hour, we tone up from head to toe with
special emphasis on the core. Weights, resistance
bands & matwork help to mix up this workout each
week for the best results. A fun & challenging
workout!
VINYASA YOGA Vinyasa Flow classes emphasize Sun Salutations and
other posture sequences synchronized with breath
to build heat and deepen strength and flexibility. This
fluid practice cultivates freedom of movement and a
