Emergency Battery Back-UP System – Jennings Hall Project No.: BI-RS-270 Bid No.: 089-A-SCSU-005 This Addendum forms a part of the contract documents and modifies the original proposal documents, Project Manual and Drawings, dated July 11, 2008, and Addendum #1, dated July 31, 2008. Item 1 CLARIFICATION: PHASING:

The phasing of this project will be complicated. The phasing will be discussed and laid out during the first job meetings. Each phase will need to be clearly defined, and all parties will need to be consulted each time the next phase is about to ‘kick in’ so that any new issues can be discussed. Daily communication and flexibility will be necessary at critical times. Most of the crucial work will be done during Winter Break, December 20th to January 26th.

Item 2 CLARIFICATION: ASBESTOS TESTING:

Although it is very doubtful that there is any asbestos in any of these spaces, SCSU will be testing the wrapped pipes below the floor for asbestos. If asbestos is found anywhere, the University will remove it.

Item 3 CLARIFICATION: ROOM NUMBERS:

The Data Center is Room #128, and the Computer Lab is Room #130. Item 4 CLARIFICATION: LOCATION OF COMPUTER LAB RELOCATED HVAC UNIT:

Although there was some discussion during the Pre-Bid walkthrough of finding a location for the relocated HVAC unit in the Computer Lab so that it did not have to be moved more than one time, at this stage, no other solution has been found other that the location shown originally on drawing M1 and on sketch SKM1.1.

Item 5 CLARIFICATION: REMOVAL OF EXISTING COMPUTERS AT COMPUTER LAB: At the Computer Lab area that will become an expansion of the Data Center, the University will remove all of the existing PC computers and all associated electrical & data wiring. The University will also temporarily moved any other remaining PC computers & tables that interfere with the progress of construction.

Item 6 CLARIFICATION: NEW WALL BETWEEN DATA CENTER AND COMPUTER CENTER: The design of the new wall between the Data Center and the Computer Lab has been changed. See attached sketch, SKA1.1. The vinyl covered panels shall be equal to ‘Dursan’ Prefinished Gypsum Wallboard by National Gypsum. Panels shall be standard, ½” thick, 4 feet wide by 11 feet high, with a vinyl film covering. The vinyl shall be the Santa Fe pattern, Adobe color. Panel shall be attached as per the manufacturer’s recommendations, using nails and adhesive. All necessary accessories shall be provided, particularly all trim pieces including divider trim. All edges and joints shall be caulked solid. Provide 4” flat base at both sides of the wall that matches the existing bases in each room. The existing floor edges that are cut can be supported on new pedestals equal to ASM SBT 4104 Pedestal Assembly (Attached) by Computers Floors , Inc. Clifton, New Jersey, (888)564-4998. Note that various accessories will be required to support the old existing floor panel edges on new pedestals that now differ from the rest of the existing pedestals supporting the existing flooring.

REQUEST FOR QUOTATION BID 089-A-SCSU-005 Project No.BI-RS-270

Emergency Battery Back-Up System- Jennings Hall In accordance with Section 4a-57 of General Statutes of the State of Connecticut, sealed proposals for supplying the following will be received by the Purchasing Department, Wintergreen Building, Southern Connecticut State University, 501 Crescent Street, New Haven, Connecticut, 06515, (203-392-6705) until 2:00 p.m. local time, on the day(s) specified below. The bid(s) may be obtained at the above address, weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., excluding holidays. SCOPE OF WORK: The project consists of the removal and replacement of a computer room air conditioning unit serving the data room located in Jennings Hall at Southern Connecticut State University. The new air conditioning system will be composed two floor mounted units (N+1) with a bottom discharge, top inlet, using the existing raised floor system as a supply plenum. Various existing raised floor tiles will be replaced with new to accommodate the existing data rack layout and accomplish adequate volumetric air flow rates. Corresponding air cooled condensers will be located in the back of the building adjacent to the walkway. Provisions will be made for the installation of a future unit as the number of data racks increase. The project also involves replacement of the existing Uninterruptible Power Supply system in the Data Center along with reconfiguration of the electrical feeders to accommodate the new UPS. New electrical feeders will be provided to new HVAC equipment. In addition, the existing partition wall between the Data Center and Computer Lab will be removed, and a new stud-wall will be constructed to increase the size of the data center. The new stud-wall construction will involve alterations of the raised floor and suspended ceiling systems at the new wall location. The existing Data Center Halon fire protection system will be reconfigured to remove nozzles from the Computer lab so that the Halon system will protect the Data Center only. New sprinklers will be provided in the Computer Lab, tapped from the existing building sprinkler loop. Plans and specifications will be available in the Purchasing Department, Wintergreen Building. There will be a $75.00 non-refundable fee for the set of plans & specifications. No cash or credit cards will be accepted. Check are to be made payable to “Southern Connecticut State University. The successful qualified low bidder on this project must submit an Affirmative Action Plan if the value of the project exceeds $50,000.00 or more. The plan must be filed within thirty (30) days after a bid has been accepted by an awarding agency. This General Contractor on this project is encouraged to utilize Connecticut certified small business minority contractors whenever possible. There will be a MANDATORY PRE-BID CONFERENCE and walk through of the site on Tuesday, July 29, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in the Facilities Operation Building, Rm 307, 615 Fitch Street, Hamden, CT 06514. Contractors not attending this pre-bid will be disqualified from bidding on the project. This will be the only time the site will be available for inspection.
