Sustained investments into both our Korbach manufacturing base and a further extension to our logistics centre are starting to take effect and are producing some very convincing results. A storage space expansion to 77,000 m2 will significantly improve the efficiency of our procedures and on a long-term basis, our ability to offer a wider range of products.

In the field of mountain bikes, ProTectionApex technology, as well as the Baron 2.4 Projekt is placing us firmly on the road to success. The World Championship and the Red Bull Rampage victories serve as striking proof of this.

After implementing a new performance line two years ago, we thus ensured that Continental have a solid product range in this high demand mid-range price segment.

Thanks to a solid choice of materials and meticulous workmanship, our Performance Tyres are setting new standards. In the course of the year, we will be expanding our range with further Enduro models and therefore completing this line of products.

BlackChili Compound This unique tread rubber mixture which is only

produced in our German factory has revolutionised bicycle tyres. The resultant compound showed a

new relationship between grip and rolling resistance. This ‘Elevated level’, as it was previously

known, was given the name ‘BlackChili’. Countless test wins that were shown in laboratory tests show

a tangible benefit. The latest polymers, nanoscale soot particles and optimized fillers all guarantee a

unique performance, from downhill MTB tyres to the time trial tyres of the ProTour, they are second

to none in their respective areas. BlackChili Compound improves rolling resistance by 26 % and

provides 30 % more grip than activated silica compounds. Premium tyres with BlackChili

Compound also impress with higher mileage and unlike many multi-compounds, provide a constant

ride from the first to the last kilometre.

RaceSport – easy, quick and secure Uncompromisingly designed for mountain bike XC and

marathon racing. The RaceSport casings combines consistent lightweight design and exceptional puncture

protection at the highest level. The design makes the difference – an especially fine, high quality nylon fabric

with an intricate and universally protective rubber casing, together with the legendary BlackChili

Compound for the ultimate race day tyre.

Vectran™’s advantage Vectran™ is spun from Vectra liquid

crystal polymer, which results in a thread that is thermoplastic and has

multifilaments. This semicrystalline material is harder than aramid, has five

times higher tensile strength than steel and in addition, is also lighter than

comparable nylon thread. Vectran™ maintains these attributes even in the

most adverse weather conditions.

ProTection – ironclad Better than ever before – our new

ProTection carcass is ready for duty! The addition of a ProTection layer

under the tread and in the sidewalls makes it particularly durable and

resistant to injury/damage or penetration from foreign objects.

Universally applicable, they also inspire with BlackChili Compound,

attractive design and low weight. In addition, they are easliy converted to

tubeless as they now feature a tubless compatible bead.

PolyX Breaker® – built to resist With the PolyX Breaker®, we are bringing our car

expertise to the bicycle tyre sector. Polyester has been used successfully in car tyres for years and

has proven itself over and over. The highly durable polyester thread is cross-stitched with a close mesh.

As a result, very high fabric density is achieved, which not only makes the breaker more durable

against foreign objects, but also particularly resistant to punctures.
