ESOPP has a busy start in 2017. Several turnkey stretching lines are under commissioning at different sites. Each of these stretching lines is a milestone in the stretching world by being the widest and the fastest in their respective markets (LIBS, BOPA).Whether they operate ESOPP mechanical simultaneous stretching technology (FLEXSIM) or use the

sequential stretching, these ESOPP lines feature the newest generation of stretching design.Thanks to the most advanced FLEXSIM simultaneous stretching technology, ESOPP was granted again 2 new orders this year for 2 complete stretching lines to be delivered by end of 2017.In addition, ESOPP won another order for a sophisticated stone paper line, proving once again ESOPP’s pioneer position.

ESOPP MANUFACTURING CAPACITY

ESOPP is about to deliver a stone paper film line, a mono-axially oriented PP/PE film filled with over 70% CaC03 content.High-quality stone paper film is an attractive alternative to cellulose-based paper and there is a growing interest in several countries to pro-duce such advanced stone paper film. Unlike synthetic paper that has a much lower filler content, the stone paper film can meet certain mechanical & printability require-ments to replace cellulose paper in a wide range of applications. ESOPP has successfully conducted several extrusion and stretching trials with their partners and now offer the stretching line along with the full process know-how.ESOPP’s stone paper line incor-porates a proprietary equipment design which makes not only a perfect extrusion of PP/PE with over 70% CaCo3 but also a spe-cific stretching pattern to fulfil the required mechanical properties of the stone paper film.

STONE PAPER LINE

ESOPP has their own manufacturing capacity provided by 4 important workshops in France. Each of them is specialized in manufacturing and assembling specific and critical sections of a stretching line.

All those workshops are located close to ESOPP headquarter, therefore ESOPP performs frequent and rigorous quality control to ensure the good quality of manufacturing. All workshops have been working more than 25 years with the ESOPP team and have already delivered over 200 stretching lines all over the world.

Each of these 4 workshops owns different types of manufacturing expertise that are required for building up a complete line, from high precision machining such as for clips and stretching rails, to heavy-duty grinding and welding for important frames and support feet along the line.

Not to mention the many specific manufacturing know-hows required such as hardening treatment, thermal stabilization, as well as electrical cabling and automation panel-building. ESOPP is further consolidating its manufacturing capacity with the recent acquisition of one workshop for the exclusive manufacturing of the MDO and TDO sections.

DIRECT DRIVE MDO, NO CARDAN SHAFT ESOPP is introducing a new generation of its contact-free, magnetic clip closing unit located at the inlet of the TDO chain track. The main technical objective of this new clip closing unit is to further enlarge the operating thickness range of the ESOPP lines. Also, it has been designed to run for commodity films at speed exceeding 550 m/min.

ESOPP has already contractually guaranteed the widest thickness range for its stretching lines. For instance, several ESOPP lines are currently producing BOPP film ranging from 10 µ to 290 µ on the same stretching line.

This guarantee is achieved by incorporating many specific designs along the whole stretching line, of which this new clip closing ramp is the latest development.

During production, the position of each permanent magnet can be adjusted with very high precision to force the proper closing of the jaws regardless of the edge profile and the running speed. Additionally, several closing curves can be pre-calibrated so that the operator can select the right ramp profile adapted to the film thickness and production speed.

NEW CLIP CLOSING RAMP

ESOPP is putting on stream 9 units of its new generation TDO oven, to be commissioned at site within the first half of 2017. Several more units are also to be delivered by end 2017.

The new TDO oven design reaches outstanding temperature uniformity along the TD stretching process and the energy consumption is reduced to by an exceptional low level, which is far better than the requirement. Both the air fan drives and the air distribution plenum have been re-engineered, as well as the oven insulation technology.

Additionally, maintenance access to the plenum and nozzles have been improved, and the oven design can accept either internal or external chain track return.

This new TDO oven design is one of the significant evolutions of ESOPP design to further lower the energy cost along the stretching line.

NEW TDO OVEN

At customer site, ESOPP has commissioned two first MDO operating without cardan shaft in the stretching section (direct drive only). This means that all the MDO rolls – including those in the stretching zone – are equipped with high precision torque motors directly mounted in the roll shaft. This is a step forward from the currently available design where the MDO rolls in the stretching section needed to be driven through cardan shafts due to the limited space resulting from small diameter rolls.

Another unique feature of these new generation MDO units is the built-in capability of freely adjusting the position of each stretching roll both inX & Y axis. Each of the stretching gaps can therefore be optimized for specific production requirements: adjustment of the stretching ratios, adjustment of the stretching gaps, and optimization of the film wrapping angles.

As a result, this ultimate flexibility in the MD stretching patterns enables a wide range of production within the same stretching line: thinner & thicker films, specific asymmetric skin layers, stickiness issues, etc.

ESOPP has a team specialized in revamping existing stretching lines in operation in the world.Several prevailed bottlenecks have been identified on existing stretching lines – regardless of the equipment maker – and readily solutions have been developed to overcome these issues.These solutions are branded as TIPE (Technical Improvement Process ESOPP) and they will answer most of the issues that many film producers face on their existing stretching lines. ESOPP is currently proposing over 20 TIPE solutions with readily retrofit kits on existing stretching lines.A typical example of such revamping solutions is the replacement of the cast roll drying unit on existing BOPP lines to increase production speeds. ESOPP has successfully retrofitted existing BOPP lines in Asia and

the middle-east with its proprietary cast roll dryer units. Another typical example is the retrofit of the TDO neutral and cooling zones on competitors’ line to avoid condensation issues.Additional examples of successful retrofit performed by ESOPP are the improvement of the rail lubrication system and of the clips cooling unit, for process optimization and higher speed capability. On the automation front, ESOPP has replaced several obsolete transmission solutions (SIEMENS, SCHNEIDER ELECTRIC) with newer PLC and speed drive models, along with retrofitting all the belt driven motors with direct torque motors. ESOPP’s TIPE is a highly competitive solution for the maintenance and the revamping of DMT, ANDRITZ, BRUECKNER and DORNIER lines.
