Key Research Insights from Innovative Schools
Key Outcomes
• educators report using innovative teaching practices such as personalized learning and collaboration exercises frequently,
• they also report being limited in how much they can integrate ICT in teaching and learning because of limited access to ICT.
The educators who participated in this survey have strong constructivist, student-centric pedagogical philosophies; the challenge is to put these beliefs into practice in their classrooms
Key Outcomes
• Teachers said the top barriers to ICT usage in teaching and learning were “Not enough computers for student use”
• “Difficulty in accessing computers in labs or the library.” Both of these barriers are related to student access to technology.
Teachers and school leaders differ in what they see as the top barrier to using ICT in teaching and learning.

• School leaders’ perceptions were quite different, and focused on teachers.
• They said the top barriers was “Insufficient time for teachers to prepare lessons that use ICT”.
• They also report insufficient funding as a top barrier.
Teachers and school leaders differ in what they see as the top barrier to using ICT in teaching and learning.

Both teachers and school leaders agree that most of students have access to computers outside of school
• This suggests that there is an opportunity to leverage the access that students have to computers outside of school through practices that extend learning beyond the classroom.

• using specific aspects of research findings to bring about significant change
• Extended the culture of innovation through personal development
• Developed staff with a focus on pedagogical knowledge
