My first day in college...

That day was a bit different than usual,12th June

2012.New college...new friends...new environment....uffflot of things were shuffling in my mind...Obviously, I had to

look 1 kg prettier than I look everyday(everybody wants to

look beautiful on the first day of college right?..:P).

After getting ready, I reached the bus bay at 8:30.Curiosity and nervousness surrounded me at the sametime. I was watching all around, fathers dropping their kids

to schools (missing those cute days), milkmen andnewspaper vendors on their cycles, vegetable sellersshouting... then came a girl and stood near me. She istaller than me and was wearing a green colour suit andsilver rimmed spectacles. After a while, I went to her andasked, Hie dii! In which year are you studying? She sawme in a disgusting way and replied that she is a lecturer.

Omg!!I was taken aback and didnt utter a single word andwaited for the bus silently. Meanwhile, lot of people camethere but this time I didnt ask anyone anything due to thelast experience. At about 9:15, I stepped into the bus andcaught a place (window seat :)). Few minutes later, astranger came, asked me my details and then replied,Dont you respect your seniors? I was confused by hiswords. He then said, Get upp..!!!.I left my place calmly,stood up and kept watching the beach from the window.

Within no time came my college entrance. There was a

huge gate and to its side, the college name was carved

with golden letters on black marble. To the right side after

the entrance was a temple of lord Vinayaka and to the leftwas the statue of the father of nation-Mahatma Gandhi.The campus was beautiful, full of greenery. Hugebuildings, lawns, canteens (Frankie hub, which was myfavourite) and pleasant environment made me excited.Many students were rushing here and there. I was walkingslowly and quietly hoping not to catch any senior again.I was on the way to my class, suddenly a girl came to meand asked, Hey!!Are you in first year ECEdepartment?Yes, are you from ECE too? I verified. Iwas so relieved as finally I got someone from my stream,we started to walk. Im Aparna....Appu and you? shespoke.I'm Nishitha, you can call me Nishu! Ianswered.Ohh nice name yaar!! I saw you at counselling,where are you from? I replied that I am a localite, from

Vizag itself.I'm from Warangal.Ohh.. so where do youstay? I enquired.I stay in college hostel itself...AmruthaSadan. Appu replied. She is about 5 feet 8inches tall, hasa ponytail and wore a blue chudidhar. Her personalitymakes her look smart.

We finally entered our block, it was a 7 storied building.

ECE department was in the 3rd floor n we both rushed intothe class. It was more than 15 min since we had come butnothing started. I cursed myself for being stupid in themorning, as I made my mom rush and started too early.

Appu is very talkative. She continuously asked mequestions. The way she talks is funny (Telanganaslang).She is one of those daring and dashing girls and I

love her attitude. After about half an hour our HOD cameto the class, congratulated all of us and introduced ourphysics lecturer-Mrs.Bhavani. She was short but hadbeautiful long hair. She also congratulated us and ourbasic introduction started. I found out that many of themwere non locals. She also explained about the academicparticulars and the way things will go on in their (our)college and went off.

The next was maths lecture. I'm very poor in maths andwas little bit tensed.What if sir starts asking formulae? Ithought, biting my nails. What I expected came true, astout short man with bald head and fierce looks wearingbig black framed spectacles came and gave a brief introabout himself, "I am your mathematics teacher

Prof.Apparao, PhD from Andhra University having 10years of teaching experience". As feared he startedshooting bombs at us...trigonometric formulae...he wasasking randomly. I prayed "Vinayaka, please not today Iwill refer all the formulae and come tomorrow .I cant getinsulted the first day itself but probably Vinayaka wasbusy, my prayers went in vein. "The girl in white dress!!!" .Istood up.Frankly speaking I didn't know the answer. Istarted rubbing my hands and suddenly Appu wrote theanswered on bench........ I immediately replied. I was sorelieved and was veryyy thankful to Appu. Appu z really

amazing, she remembered all that maths stuff!!!

It was 12:30 ,we all dispersed and went home as the

first day was a half day. As soon as I reached home, mymom fired at me with her questions, how was the college,did u make any friends, are they from Vizag, had any

ragging and blah blah.After relaxing for some time Ichanged all the channels in TV and finally stuck to KuchKuch Hota Hai movie in Sony Max. It was 4:30 and wasdrizzling out, my mom made pakodis and I was standing inbalcony. Rain, greenary, pakodis, light music, especially

soil fragrance hmmmmmmmmmm...perfect combination. Iwas recalling all the moments that happened in thecollege. I had forgotten to take Appu's mobile number andthought to take it the next day, suddenly Prof.Apparaocame to my mind and I rushed inside to search myintermediate text book . I surely knew that he would notask me the next day but I had to go through them.

Day 2:

I started to college at 9 realizing that 8:30 was too

early. Appu was already in class when I reached. I gave

her a hi-fi and we began our gossip. We made some more

friends, Maanvi and Sindhu. A few minutes later, a boy

came and told us to move to C lab. After finishing 2 hours

of session about C, I only learnt that #include

and #include must be the first two lines of every

C program.

Later, we joined MM class, again Maths..huh...On the

first day itself he started our syllabus without any formal

introduction and left the class at 12:30 for lunch break.

Appu,Maanvi,Sindhu and I decided to roam in the college

and on the way we were discussing about our MM

lecturer. Appu spoke, Gadendhe negro lekka undu

chudaleka chachina,dimag kharab ayindi poyi eminathindam ra rade. We all too joined and made fun of him,

but to our surprise he was just walking behind us. We

looked at him suddenly with a shock, but he went away

annoyingly without saying anything and gave us an

arrogant look .The three of us were very frightened

(obviously not Appu!) .Maanvi asked, Did he hearus?.Looks that he did,he gave us a furious look I

replied.Chill guys nothing is going to happen Appu said.

We all went to Frankie hub and ordered frankies, of course

Our class started at 2:00. The most important subject

for electronics students is EDC. Let me check your

knowledge , Mr. Srinivas our EDC lecturer asked the last

bench boy, What is a flipflop? No response came and sir

continued next,next and next.A boy named Akhil stood and

answered , A Flipflop is a flipflop which is generated by a

flipflop and it always flips the flop. That is Flipflop. The

whole class burst into laughter, even Akhil was

giggling.Out of my class, shouted Srinivas sir. After theclass, Appu wished, Super Akhil, Srinivas face was worth

seeing. Thanks yaar, he replied. Then came our

Mahesh sir, Network Analysis professor. A 6 feet tall fair

handsome guy dressed in white shirt blue jeans. All the

girls stared at him and more than anyone else Appu had

fallen for him and didnt take her eyes out of him. I couldntstop laughing, never imagined that Appu would fall for a

boy. Her full concentration was on our lecturer, she even

didnt notice that it was 4:00 and we had to leave.

The day was of complete fun, I really loved it. We all

exchanged our contact numbers and went back to our

places.

Day 3:

Appu was waiting for me at the main gate. As soon as Imet her Vinay came to us and uttered, You rock girls!!!We didn't understand but after moving about half a km,

Ajay exclaimed, Wow girls!!! You were amazing. Thatday was unusual as everyone in the class stared at us in adifferent way, they were smiling seeing our faces. Appuand I were very confused and a bit tensed so I went to

Akhil and asked whats going on. Akhil responded, How is

your negro? What? Whats that? Who is the negro?Achaaa,we know all that you guys said about Chinnababusir. He heard your talks yesterday and at night he createda big drama in the boys hostel.He was so badly hurt onyour crack-up that he was drunk to the core and narratedthe entire thing to the seniors,he said "Today, four firstyear girls dared to make fun of me. One girl, having a

ponytail and the other having long hair even called me anegro.What the hell is that? I agree that I dont know muchabout the subject but that doesnt mean they go on andcall me a negro" .To add salt to the wounds some boys inthe morning shouted morning negro! at his back and ranaway. He is already very upset about his unmarried lifeand now with this incident I think he is gonna murder youwith his viva.Appu and I became silent as we started to

think. We were very worried but yet at the same time

could not control our laugh.

Maanvi was scared as usual and suggested that weshould bunk his class. We have to face him some day orthe other, we can't skip all his classes, Sindhu replied.

Appu agreed, "Yes, Sindhu is right, we have to facehim.""What's with you? You are a genius in maths, I won'tbe able to utter even a single word., I spoke. Finally wedared to attend his class, I prayed to Vinayaka, it won'thappen again, please save us from Chinnababu sir". To

our surprise class went on without the mention of theearlier incident.

I don't know the reason but there were no classes afterlunch on that day. Later, we found out that ragging wasgoing on. I got tensed, the last two days went quiet easily(no ragging at least) and I thought ragging won't happen.

A batch of 15 seniors rushed into our class and startedragging us individually. Two seniors came to me anddemanded my bio data in Telugu. I started giving my biobut I was stuck as I forgot the translation of primaryeducation in Telugu. Meanwhile many funny things weregoing behind the scenes. A boy was busy telling the bowtable...bow *1=bow, bow*2=bow bow.......,and to thecorner, one girl singing the song- chikni chameli and a boywas dancing to the same, one senior demanded forchocolates from a girl, the other demanded brownies fromcanteen. A senior sir finished off Appu's balance. Akhil

was given loads of assignments.Maanvi was asked by a senior to flirt with Rohan-a

senior sir. Maanvi whos a weak hearted girl got scared,

hmm..Rohan sir is very sweet. His smartness, attireeverything in him makes girls go mad... I was noticing thewhole play, that idiot Rohan was smiling wide, thinkingwhatever Maanvi said was true. The senior asked her tocontinue, Maanvi thought for a while and started again,His hairstyle and the wayhe speaks is so impressive....

Sindhu, a practical girl, was asked to deliver self

introduction. She started, "My name is Sindhu, I'm fromRajamandry..."Don't u know how to stand? Why are youreyebrows going up?", yelled Radhika madam. "Sorrymam, I didn't do it deliberately, by default my eyebrowsare shaped like that" Sindhu replied and continued "Icompleted my inter from Narayana Junior Colege and blahblah.All at once, the seniors rushed out from our class on

seeing our Maths Professor Apparao sir.

While walking back to our homes, Maanvi cursedherself, "What a fate! Had to praise a guy withBrahmanandam (comedian in Telugu films) looks to therange of Prabhas (actor )!!". "Yes he was grinning whileyou were praising him as if whatever you said were true.",I replied. Sindhu added, "That bloody senior commentedon my eyebrows, what the hell has she got to do with myeyebrows? Does she think she looks like PriyankaChopra?"."I lost my 222 balance which I recharged

yesterday itself" ,cried Appu. I was in a better situationthan my other three friends. Akhil came with a down faceand yelled, "That rascal gave me assignments of all his 5

subjects.Give all four of us one assignment each.Mummy ne nahi sikhaya??? Sharingggg!!!" I said and

smiled.

Day 4:

Maanvi and I decided to bunk the college fearing of

ragging. Suddenly my phone rang, it was Appu,You guyzare dead if u dont show up!So I started, unwillingly

though. We had EDC lab in our schedules, a beautiful and

descent looking madam with her hair tied up and a cute

smile on her face was standing there and introduced

herself as Prof.Shanti, PhD from IIT Bombay. She

explained the basics in colour coding of

resistors(BBROYGBVGW..B.B Roy of Great Britan had

Very Good Wife), gave some examples and left, handing

the class to the lab incharge.

Akhil came to me and said, Hey, Nishu seniors are

calling you. My heart started drumming in my ears as I

started to rub my hands, searching for a way to escape

but finding none. Finally, I went to them and greeted,

good morning sir.. Sing a song, Nishita,one of them

said.I felt like awwwww, I knew that they would never

leave me without singing, I finally decide to sing and

started,

The other senior spoke, It was an easy job for you

,right? Well `then, dance for a song. How could I do that it

would have been so embarrassing so I pleaded, Sorry sir,

but I cant, tell me anything other than dance. They both

thought for a sec and then said, Fine, the 3rd lecture is

about to end, your task is to give a heart shaped gift to the

last person coming out of the third year ECE B3 section

everyday till the freshers party. I went dumb. I was literallyin tears and almost begged them but it was of nouse. Now I

felt as if dance was much better option. My heart was

beating high, my eyes were filled with water.

Lecture was over, students started to come out. I

prayed,God, please let the last person from the class be a

girl and anxiously looked at the students coming out. Oneafter the other students rushed out, some were girls some

were boys. After about 5min I saw Radhika mam coming

out. No one followed her. Phew...I was so relieved. She

has got all the arrogance of the world but at least she is a

girl. But just then, a tall boy passed. My heart sank. I

waited to see if anyone else would come out but no onedid.So here is your man be ready with your gift tomorrow

they ordered and left. I went blank. Tears were rolling

down my cheeks. Somehow I controlled myself and

walked back to the lab slowly. What happened?,What

did they do? asked Appu and Sindhu. I narrated them the

whole incident.

It is all my fault, I forced you to come to college, said

Appu.It has nothing to do with you Appu who knew that

this would happen , its all in my fate.I replied in a

dejected tone.Hey, but its so romantic giving a heart

shaped gift everyday... Maanvi exclaimed.Shut up you

idiot!!!No need to give anything lets see what

happens!!!Appu yelled.ButI dont think its a good idea todisobey the seniors they will torture u more if u dont obey

them Maanvi added.I think Maanvi is right. You were not

told to propose him right? So just take it in a stride and

give him some gifts, Sindhu suggested.

Day 5 & 6:

Hey !Wassup? Where is the heart for your hero?asked

Sindhu . I gave her a frustrating look. She calmed down

and sat beside me. Im not going to give any stupid stuff

to anyone, I didnt bring anything.Good yar,finally proved

that you are my friend by showing some guts Appu

exclaimed . What if seniors catch u again?asked Maanvi.

Lets bunk the class and go to beach, suggested

Sindhu.First movie ---Gabbar Singh (Dabangs remake in

Telugu) exclaimed Maanvi. How many times are you

going to watch it you crazy girl??? yelled Sindhu.

After finishing the movie, we went to chocolate room,

one of my favourite places in vizag, the beach looks

fabulous and we had loads of fun. I was very pleased with

the way my friends tried to console me.

Next morning, classes continued as usual.Appu, I am

very tensed what if those two seniors catch me

again.Calm down Nishu, nothing is gonna happen. I think

those two morons were jesting they are not serious..I

hope so.. I replied.

We all had our lunch. Nishithaa!!! someone called

me. I turned back and it was the seniors again. I turned

pale. Slowly, I walked towards them.How was the movie

and the panipuri in the beach?I was shocked.I think we

gave u some task, right? asked one of them .

sir......actually........I murmured.You are dead if u

disobey us again. Now go and give him the gift.

I returned back to my friends. Appu shouted , Come

,we will complain, let us see who is going to

die.Complaining would make the situation go worse, all

the seniors may turn against us Maanvi added. Its just

15 days to freshers. Dont think much just take it light and

give that idiot some gifts Sindhu proposed.

I finally decided to give a gift.What should I give? I

asked, irritated and confused.How about a beautiful red

heart soft pillow? Maanvi replied. Have u lost it! He is not

her boyfriend, Appu screamed.

Just give him a paper cut in heart shape, Appu!

make a heart shaped paper said Sindhu. Appu gave us a

look as if Sindhu asked her to perform a heart surgery.

Maanvi yelled out Hell with your paper! and went off,

even I felt the same and got an idea, How about little

heart biscuits? Ya, good idea! Better than Sindhus

stupid paper, atleast one can eat them said Appu.

But I barely remember his face I uttered, Whattt??,

the rest all shouted at me. I just saw for him a sec and

then went out of mind recognizing him as a boy, I

screamed. Great! What now?,murmered Appu. Can u

identify him if you see him again? Sindhu asked. Hmm...

maybe I replied and we all went in search of that stranger.

After wandering a while in the campus, I noticed a boy

in black shirt sitting on a bike talking to someone. He was

moderate coloured wearing goggles and had a spiky

hairstyle. I think its him.. I said at pointing him .All the

three turned and stared at him. Awwww, he is too

dashing. You are so lucky Nishitha.Appu tapped Maanvis

head and asked me Are you sure? Yes I replied. Then

just go and give him his gift said Sindhu but I couldntmove,the three started pushing me.Dont worry just give

him and return back spoke Sindhu. Finally I started to

walk. I think my feet weighed 10 kg more that day. With all

nervousness and embarrassment I finally went close to

him kept the little hearts packet on his bike turned back

and walked back as fast as I could .I felt so relieved as if Iclimbed Mt.Everest.

All the three were waiting for me, questions were fired all

at once seeing me Howz he?, What did he say?, Did

he misbehave? and more... I just gave the packet and

ran away , didnt even see his face they all broke into

laughter. I embarrassingly and irritatingly asked whats

the next gift? Please dont look at me, I know nothing

about these silly things ,looks like Maanvi is more

interested in him,she can you give nice suggestionsAppu

Day 7 & 8:

Sindhu exclaimed , Hey, Nishu is coming! Appu and

Maanvi stopped their conversation and stared at me. Theywere all very curious to see the gift . Hey,heyy show me

what u bought for your handsome guy Maanvi burst out.

Giving a furious look , I showed them a heart shaped

table clock. Previous days experiences were revolving in

my mind, we moved to the C lab. I wrote two golden lines

and started to wait for someone to mail the program.

While leaving the lab, I saw the senior standing in

corridor, talking to someone on mobile, I thought , its the

perfect time so I rushed to him and gave him the heart

shaped little gift. I dont know whether it was accidental or

intentional but I saw him, he smiled looking at it. I flew

away from there within secs.Did you give him?, enquired

Sindhu.Yes, he just smiled seeing the gift anddidnt utter

a word. I think he understood that it was a part of ragging

and I am not doing it deliberately.Well that was very

descent of him that he did not misbehave in anyway

replied Sindhu .Yes, now I have got a little confidence

that it will go on smoothly.

I enquired about your senior in the hostel .His name

is Rahul, DSPs son, very popular for his looks and even

his grades. There are talks that his girlfriend is Sowmya.

He is a descent guy,there will be no problems so just chill

Appu said. Her words comforted me a little.Ohh..DSPs

son waao!!!exclaimed Maanvi.Sowmya??? Is she the

senior who resembles like Ileana...Sindhu enquired .Appuspoke, yes she too is very famous in college.I checked

her facebook account she has got 700 odd friends,

replied Appu. Maanvi continued ,Rahul.....u like that name

right Nishu??Its your favourite actor Sharukhs name in

many movies. I gave her a frustrating look and said I

donot like Shahrukh anymore neither do I like that name.

Lectures passed, our day ended, all three were in a

casual talk but I was quiet ,Maanvi asked, Where are you

madam? What are you thinking about?Appu added, She

is in dreams with her hero and thinking what to give him

tomorrow, right? Akhil came from behind singing My dil

goes mmm...mmm.. mmm. Do u want to get punched??Dont you dare tease her again Appu scolded him .Hey

sorry, I was just kidding Akhil said and left away and then

all the three suddenly started chorusing My dil goes

mmm..mmm..mmm....I felt even more annoyed.

Day 8 &9:

Appu called saying that shes not well and asked me

to give proxy, I went directly to the college hostel to meet

her. She was suffering with fever, come on , lets go to

the health care center I said. I puke when I smell

hospital. Nothing will happen ,I am strong ,you go and

attend classes .This time ,you will get punched from me

if you dont come I warned. She had high fever, doctor

advised her to rest.come,lets go home.Eh...hey no

need, I will take rest dont worry I will be okk,Dont irritateme! You are coming with me,I shouted. My mother made

some broth for her .Within no time she became close to

my family, Abhi my younger brother and Appu got busy in

games.You are always welcome to our home Appu, feel

free my dad spoke.Ya, we can watch the wwe matches

together I got tired of this girls stupid romantic moviesmybrother exclaimed.Thank u uncle thank u Abhi,Appu

replied and smiled.

What about todays gift? What will you say if

seniors catch you again?Appu asked. Chill yar, I can

handle it after all I am Appus friend I replied,smiling .

Next day Appu and I started for college together .Wegot a blasting news after entering the class, negro

chinnababus surprise test .During the whole lecture his

total focus was on the four of us . We could hardly copy

. Akhil came to us saying negros engagement got

cancelled due to brides grandmas death. He is showing

this frustration on us.

At lunch break I started my search for Rahul sir, this

had become my everydays routine. I was waiting for his

class to finish, so that I could give the gift and run back

to my class.

Are u waiting for me? someone called,

I turned back , it was Rahul sir standing in style with one

hand in his pocket.

Yes sir... I replied, amused.

Are you okk?I saw u going to the health care centre

yesterday! I nodded my head, kept hands in my bag and

took out the gift. It was a heart shaped perfume bottle .I

gave it to him and started to walk back.

Take care of ur health he said from behind.

I was unable to concentrate in my classes, many

things were going in my mind. I asked Appu, I dont know

for which sin God is punishing me, why in the whole worlddid those two jerks choose me ?I neither have great looks

nor am I bright in studies . Appu nodded agreeing that it

was true. Appus reaction made me sad. I forgot

everything else.Do I look that bad? I kept thinking. I was

quiet and didnt speak to her for a while. Appu

understanding that I got angry on her said, You dont

have great looks, have an old fashioned dressing style,your long straight hair makes me sick and to add you are

too short (well I dont think I am short she is too tall .About

half of our class boys are shorter than Appu) but u have

the cutest smile I have ever seen. Your eyes sparkle when

u smile. More than anything else you have a great

heart.Appu said. Her words made me smile.

On the way back to home, three 2nd

year boys

stopped me, Are you Nishita?asked one of them...yes

sir I replied.Do your hearts belong to only one person?

Give us too...spoke the other. I froze. I was about to shout

at them when suddenly came a voice, What is going

on...?It was Rahulsir.Eh...nothing sir we were just takingher intro... one of the three tried to explain.Want to die?

Dont dare to tease her again! he shouted. The three flew

away. Smile spread on my lips.They wont trouble you

anymore, come he said. We were walking together, I was

smiling and heart started palpitating. It was as if I was with

someone very close. An unknown happiness ushered

within me. I felt protected.

We reached home.Thank u sir.. I said.No

problemhe replied smilingly. I waved bye and walked

inside slowly. His thoughts filled my mind. His smile, eyes,

style, voice everything were flashing around me. What has

happened to me? Till now, I never thought of him and all

at once I couldnt see anyone except him. The memoriesabout when he asked me to take care of my health,

warned the brutes, dropped me home flashed in my eyes.

I opened his facebook account and kept staring at his pics

and the stuff in his blog.

Day 10 &11:

I got up early. The day was a bit different from all

others, I continuously stared at my wardrobe confused

about what to wear, changed two dresses and finally wore

the pink dress (one of my favourites). I headed to a nearby

bakery and glanced at all the items over there and finally

picked a cute heart shaped chocolate box filled with

Belgian chocos and truffles.

I was excited and anxious to meet him today. My eyes

were searching him while I was walking to class but I

couldnt find him . Appu exclaimed on seeing me, What

has come to u? Why have u become Maanvis pinkie

Barbie doll?Shut up you tomboy, you are luking

awesome,Nishu said Sindhu .Yes, you are looking

lovely added Maanvi. I smiled (shyed). Our physicslecture began. I sat in the second bench next to the

window and got lost in thoughts.

It was evening, I didnt meet him. We kept

searching and suddenly Appu shouted,Heyy!!Theres your

man under the tree. .I turned my head immediately, Rahul

was walking with Sowmya mam. I went blank, a great griefenveloped me. You can close your eyes to the things you

dont want to see but you cant close your heart to the things

you dont want to feel. What are you waiting for? Go and

give Sindhu yelled. He is not alone and its getting late

moreover I dont wanna disturb them, they are in serious

talks, lets go, Im not giving him any gift today, I uttered but

Appu and Maanvi pushed me saying no baby, you have togo otherwise seniors may catch u again

.I went to him, my heart beat raised as I approached him

but my eyes filled with tears. I gave him the chocolate box.

He smiled as usually and said, Thank u! I left the place

within no time.

Looks like they like each other Maanvi said.Ya, who

wont like a girl like Sowmya? She has both looks and

brains. I think they perfectly match each otherAppu

I got a text from Appu ,Come quickly Nishu, Im waiting , I

have a news for you I thought that she was gonna tell me

something about Rahul. I rushed to the college

immediately but Appu said, I got caught in hostel

Day before yesterday I saw a cockroach in our hostel

sambhar so I went to complain our coordinator but she

told me to take it lightly. I got more angry. I even became

ill due to the hostel food. So I wanted to teach her a lesson

and I decided to do the same thing. I took a cockroach and

silently tried to put it in her lunch box. But, Hey!! What the

hell are you doing here? shouted the coordinator. She

continuously cursed me, Are you a kid? Dont you haveminimum manners etc.. I was giggling myself. She left

with anger. I was happy that at least I tried to fix her. Later,

there was an announcement for me. I went downstairs and

enquired. Our chief warden was there asking me to call

my parents. I was like awwww....I pretended like I was

calling my parents and then said, no coverage area,madam, my parents went for a function in a village and I

think theres no signal. She left me telling me to Meet her

tomorrow.

and said, no problem ,my mom will handle it but you

please just stop such nonsense. If this happens again,

Appu nodded her head saying that she will not

repeat it again. We both went to our classes. Our negro

gave us the score of the test and to our surprise Maanvi

We got a notice to create our account in library, soafter our lunch, all the four of us went to the library. We

were asked to fill our details in a form. I forgot to bring

a pen (but not gift :p) .I turned back and to my surprise.

again.Yes its Rahul sir!. I forgot about the pen, went to

him and gave the gift- a heart shaped pendrive. He was

also surprised to see me there, I could see that in his

in cloud 9. I forgot about the form, and got lost in his

thoughts . Maanvi tapped me and asked, Where are you

I strongly decided not to gift him anything and went to

college .I thought to come out of my feelings and got

completely involved with my friends. We are cracking

jokes .Akhil ,hero of monoaction imitated all our lecturers

.We were having great fun.

I was trying hard to come out of my thoughts. We all

went to canteen, ordered snacks. Appu and Maanvi got

involved in commenting the people specially couples who

came there. Suddenly someone yelled arey Rahulll

....mazaak matkar .I unknowingly turned my head and

saw him. He was with his gang cracking jokes.

He was smilingggggg... I melt when he smiles. How

could I stop myself looking at him? I forgot all the things

that I decided to do to make myself strong.

But I didnt bring anything, I scolded myself for doing

that, suddenly I saw a coffee machine over there...

After going home, I got busy with my drawing

assignment.Probably, yesterday he scolded me for my

was nervous .Every second my eyes drifted towards the

clock. At about 12:30 Appu called Heyyy do you know, it

is your heros birthday today, I heard Sowmya madam

wishing him at 12:00 I ended the call. Probably Appu

thought that I got angry on her for giving me Rahuls

information.

I was happpieeeee that it was his birthday and at the

same time Sowmya mam striked my mind saying Im

,waiting for him to enter. It had been 20 minutes, students

were coming one by one but there was no sign of him.

white chequed shirt, blue jeans, white sport shoes ,black

His classmates took him to the lecture table where I had

Two days to go for the freshers party. Count down started

in my heart. Now, no more gifts, no more everyday meetings,

this day like a child for chocolate and now when it has come I

lost in my thoughts. Some of our seniors came and picked few

members to help them in works. They also asked for new ideas

My mom asked me to accompany her for shopping. I

needed to divert my mind so I went with her. Wherever I go,

whatever I do, I see only one name, only one image, only one

thought thats Rahul. Why have I become this crazy for a boy?.I was getting irritated and angry on myself .I tried to be strong

and decided not to think of him. I had to be normal and accept

the fate.

On that day evening, Appu ,Maanvi and Sindhu came to

my house. We were speaking about some casual things. Sindhu

asked about sarees. Appu responded saying, Ill come in jeans,it will be cool. When I cant handle suits, sarees are far away to

think of. Moreover I dreamt yesterday that I had stepped on my

saree and fell off in the party. I am not going to take any risk.

Sindhu and Maanvi burst into laughter on hearing that. Maanvi

exclaimed that it was compulsory dress code and Mahesh sir

likes girls in sarees.How the hell do you know that?Appuyelled.See,I knew Appu likes Mahesh sir. Sindhu added. The

two laughed again.Stop it guys, enough now. Appu, I am sure

you will look gorgeous in saree .You have good height and

personality. You can choose any of my mothers sarees. I

FRESHERS PARTY:

I was getting ready for the freshers party. Maanvi

called me and told to come quickly as the program has

already started. I rushed out of my house and my Dad

dropped me. I wore a light blue shaded saree. On entering

the college, few seniors welcomed me with roses. Our

college looked even more beautiful that day due to

decoration, stalls and most importantly the vibrancy of the

students. Akhil came from behind and informed that my

friends were near the coin stall. I went to them, Appu wasplaying the game and the rest were watching and cheering

her. Song dedications were going on parallel, after about 1

hour the program started.

Our Principal M.Lakshmi Narayan along with other

officials inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp. The

program kick-started with a melodious group song bysenior students. It was followed by ramp walk for

contestants of Mr. And Ms. Fresher titles. Then came

Aakash with a song. He mesmerized everyone and

captivated us in a spell of his melodious voice. Vinay and

Ravis dance performance put the stage on fire. Voting for

Mr and Ms. Eve was going on simultaneously. Comedyskits and several other shows also took place. Every event

made the night more glorious.

All of a sudden my eyes caught Rahul in the view. I

pinched myself to verify that I was not dreaming again. But

it was really him. Even Sowmya mam had come .My

friends noticed them too. What the hell are they doinghere?Appu questioned. Probably they didnt find any

best until now. With a sweet smile on his face he took the

school children in bus stop. My heart skipped a beat

seeing her. Her eyes sparkled when she she was smiling.

Her smile truly reach her eyes with such innocence that islost once we grow up. Those eyes were the most beautiful

and gorgeous eyes I had ever seen. They truly made me

believe that the eyes are a window to the soul and her

soul is more than just beautiful.

From that day on, I went to the bus stop daily hoping

to catch a glimpse of her but in vain. After 3 months I saw

her again in a theatre with the same breathtakingly

beautiful smile that draws me close to her just like a

honeybee that is being drawn to the flower. But the luck

didnt play into my hands and I missed her again with a

hope to see her soon.

Nothing can change your destiny, I saw the same girlagain in our college. I pinched myself like a kid. She was

just few steps away from me. I had gone mad.

Unbelievable!!! I was on the top of the world and

desperately wanted to meet her.

One fine day when I was sitting on my bike waiting for

my friend, to my surprise, my dream girl came to me andgave me a pack of Little Heart biscuits.Whoaao, what is

talking to my buddy on mobile, then again the girl came

were searching each and every place trying to reach out

Day by day my love for her was blooming. I met her

again in Library. She saw me there and gave a surprising

look as if I was sitting behind the bars. Heart shapedpendrive was this times gift. Immediately after going home

I loaded the pendrive with romantic medlies and thought of

using it only when I was with her.

She came to me with a greeting the next day which

she had made herself. She was looking splendid that day

in her pink dress. But instead of thanking I scolded mylittle girl for wasting time on it .After looking at the greeting,
