2-NIGHT PRE-CRUISE STAY IN LISBON

Day 1: Lisbon, Portugal – Arrive at Lisbon Portela Airport, where you will be transferred to your hotel for your 2-night pre-cruise Lisbon stay. Gather together with your fellow travelers this evening for a welcome dinner at a favorite local restaurant.

Day 2: Lisbon, Portugal – Join your local guide for a city tour of Lisbon. Visit the famed Belem Tower and the spectacular Jerónimos Monastery and a famous pastry shop. The remainder of the day is yours to explore the city of Lisbon at your leisure.

7-NIGHT RIVER CRUISE

Day 3: Lisbon, Portugal, transfer to Porto – Travel through the beautiful countryside to your embarkation city, stopping to explore Coimbra, the birthplace of six Portuguese kings. Enjoy a tour of Coimbra, complete with a visit to the University Library. After this afternoon in Porto, board the Queen Isabel.

Day 4: Porto, Portugal, cruising the Douro River – Select one of two featured Porto city tours. Get a feel for this town on a panoramic tour, visiting UNESCO-designated 19th-century Stock Exchange Palace, Porto’s austere hilltop cathedral and the bustling pedestrian shopping street, Santa Catarina. Or experience the city on foot, climbing 249 steps to the top of Clérigos Tower for the best view in Porto.

Day 5: Cruising the Douro River, Régua & Pinhão, Portugal – Today, you have the option to learn about the region’s unique winemaking history and be treated to a special lecture at the Douro Museum. Or if you prefer, visit the legendary Mateus Palace, which has one of the most beautiful gardens in the country. During the evening, enjoy a special dinner at a local quinta.

Day 6: Pinhão, Portugal, Cruising the Douro River – Select one of two featured excursions today. Visit Quinta do Seixo, a prestigious Port wine estate, for a tour of its state-of-the-art facility. Or take a scenic drive through Pinhão on your way to Quinta da Avessada, complete with an interactive museum.

Day 7: Salamanca, Spain – Enjoy an exploration of the jewel of Costa Verde, Viana do Castelo, followed by an exclusive local lunch overlooking the town and the estuary of the river Lima in north Portugal before returning to the Queen Isabel.

Day 8: Barca d’Alva, Portugal, Cruising the Douro River, Régua, Portugal – Travel through the countryside to Castelo Rodrigo. Take a tour of this fascinating site and sample delicious local treats, such as honey, olive oil and cheeses. Later in the day, venture to the UNESCO-designated Archaeological Park of the Côa Valley, considered the world’s most important Paleolithic open-air rock art site.
