Voters had a choice of voting on a paper ballot that was provided in each August’s edition of The Beacon or they could go to The Beacon’s surveymonkey.com account and vote. In total, there were over 5000 votes cast

for the competition (which we think is pretty darn good for our first year). Receiving 10% of those votes was our overall Best of the Best winner, East Harbor State Park.To win Best of the Best, the business,

organization, place or person had to receive the most votes out of anyone or anything in the competition. East Harbor State Park won first in three categories: Best Park, Best Beach and Best Campground.

Dominating these categories made East Harbor State Park the Best of the Best from Beacon readers.

What is ahead for 2015?Voting for the second annual Beacon’s

Best of the Best competition will take place from August 3 to September 7. This gives our readers five whole weeks to cast their ballots and five weeks for businesses and organizations to rally for votes.This year’s Best of the Best presentation

ceremony will take place on September 17 at a location that is yet to be disclosed. Keep reading The Beacon for more infor-mation on voting and the award’s ceremony.
