Best ICT Startup Award最佳資訊科技初創企業獎

香港資訊及通訊科技獎旨在表揚及推廣優秀

的資訊及通訊科技發明和應用，以鼓勵香港

業界精英和企業不斷追求創新和卓越，謀求

更佳和更具創意的方案，滿足企業的營運需

要，造福社會。

通過業界、學術界和政府的共同努力，香港

資訊及通訊科技獎於二零零六年成立。香港

資訊及通訊科技獎由政府資訊科技總監辦公

室策動，並由香港業界組織及專業團體主

辦，目的是為香港建立一個廣受香港社會愛

戴、並獲國際認同的資訊及通訊科技專業獎

項。

2016 香港資訊及通訊科技獎設有八個類別的

獎項。每個類別均設有一個大獎，而最終評

審委員會再從所有大獎中甄選出「全年大獎」。

「2016 香港資訊及通訊科技獎：最佳資訊科

技初創企業獎」旨在鼓勵及表揚本地出色的軟

件，硬件和社會創新領域的初創公司。同時，

我們亦希望將優秀的ICT初創公司推薦給香港

及中國內地風險投資基金和天使投資公司。

The Hong Kong ICT Awards aims at recognising and promoting outstanding information and communications technology (ICT) inventions and applications, thereby encouraging innovation and excellence among Hong Kong’s ICT talents and enterprises in their constant pursuit of creative and better solutions to meet business and social needs.

The Hong Kong ICT Awards was established in 2006 with the collaborative efforts of the industry, academia and the Government. Steered by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, and organised by Hong Kong ICT industry associations and professional bodies, the Awards aims at building a locally espoused and internationally acclaimed brand of ICT awards.

There are eight categories under the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2016. There is one Grand Award in each category, and an “Award of the Year” is selected from the eight Grand Awards by the Grand Judging Panel.

Hong Kong ICT Awards 2016: Best ICT Startup Award aims recognize outstanding local ICT startup companies which focused on Software, Hardware and Social Innovation areas and, discover outstanding ICT startup companies with distinguish software, hardware and/or social innovation projects, and recommend them to Venture Capital Funds and Angel Investors in Hong Kong and Mainland China.

香港資訊科技聯會非常榮幸首年成為 2016 年香

港資訊及通訊科技獎：最佳資訊科技初創企業獎

的籌辦組織。是次獎項分為 3 個組別，分別為軟

件及應用服務、硬件與設備及社會貢獻，今年我

們合共收到 60 多份申請，各參賽企業的作品皆

擁有超卓水平。

我們舉辦這個獎項的目的旨在鼓勵及表揚本地出

色的軟件、硬件和社會創新領域的初創公司。近

年香港初創公司數量不斷增長，我們希望能藉此

獎項，為他們帶來鼓勵，亦希望各參賽企業可透

過與評判和評審員的面談後，能有效地改進其商

業計劃，提高競爭力，為其公司發展帶來更好的

前景。

2016 年最佳資訊科技初創企業獎圓滿結束，我

再次感謝由香港應用科技研究院主席王明鑫先

生所帶領的評審委員會，為我們所有參賽企業

提供寶貴的意見，相信這難得的經驗，對初創

企業會帶來新思維衝擊。同時，我亦希望感謝

各宣傳夥伴、支持機構的支持和合作，讓我們

活動順利完成。

最後，我再次祝賀所有得獎者，亦感謝所有參加

者所付出的努力，希望每一位都藉此獲益，我亦

期待明年比賽中見到同樣優秀的作品。

Hong Kong Information Technology Joint Council (HKITJC) is honoured to be the leading organiser of 2016 Hong Kong ICT Awards: Best ICT Startup Award. Although it is only our first year of organising this award, we are glad to have over 60 applications for our software/ hardware/ social impacts streams.

Startup companies are the engine of our next wave of economic growth. Our goal of organising this award is to promote and nurture entrepreneurship in Hong Kong, we see a surge in number of startups in the technology sector in recent years. Though this award we want to recognize the startup companies with their achievements, technology and business model innovations, and most importantly the entrepreneurship spirit. It is important to have startup competitions like the HKICT Awards to let them refine their business plan, learn from the judges and assessors and improve their pitching skills which are essential to most startups if they are to survive the competitions.

I understand all participants have put in numerous efforts and have long preparations throughout the Award process. I want to congratulate the winners for their results, at the same time I want to thank all participants for making the effort and I hope they all have gained something in the selection process.

Also, I would like to thank our judging panel, lead by Chairman of Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute Co. Ltd., Mr. MY Wong, for the time they spent and also experience sharing with the startup teams, I believe it’s a good learning lesson for all of the final round participants. My thank also goes to our assessment team comprised of 10 assessors, separately they handled the first round assessments for our three entry streams and give their valuable insights. Last but not the least, our organizing committee have contributed their best to make this a successful Award event, we are grateful to have such a devoted team and we look forward to having the chance to be organiser again and serve in the promotion of our startup ecosystem.

今 年 是 我 們 首 次 籌 辦「 最 佳 資 訊 科 技 初 創 企業 獎 」， 在 一 眾 友 好 機 構 的 支 持 與 協 助 下，我 們 發 掘 了 一 批 具 有 潛 力 和 實 力 的 初 創 企 業(Startup)，令活動得以圓滿完成，我在此深表感謝！

本港的初創企業近年如雨後春筍般湧現，我們喜見這些初創企業的創業家在其業務發展上結合科技、創意和互聯網，為我們的社會和生活加入新元素。我們籌辦這次「最佳資訊科技初創企業獎」的目的，旨在鼓勵並嘉許這批具創見的創業家。

我們也希望藉著獎項去鼓勵更多有志之士，投身香港的初創企業行列，打破傳統的營商模式，拓展市場、尋覓商機，令下一代有更多元化的發展機會，從而推動社會繼續向前。

然而，作為一個創業的過來人，我對初創企業要面對的種種艱苦感同身受。在資金、市場、人脈等諸多難關面前，痛苦得失少不免。但我相信只要懷著熱誠和幹勁，加上特區政府提供的各項支援服務，難關始終闖得過，良辰美景在眼前。最後，我衷心祝賀各位得獎者，及為各位參加者加油打氣！

This year, we organized the “Best ICT Startup Award” for the first time. With the full support offered by our friendly organizations, we explored many potential ICT Startups, and finally we accomplished the event.

In recent years, local startups emerged and grew rapidly. We are pleased to see these startups which combine technology, innovation and internet; it adds a new element to the society and our daily living. The “Best ICT Startup Award” aims at encouraging and recognizing the entrepreneurship of these startups.

By presenting the awards to the startups, we hope to encourage more talents to join the startup business which breaks the traditional business model and develops new markets. Startup allows our next generation to have a diversified development, while it acts as a driving force of our economic development.

As an entrepreneur, I understand the hardship of starting a business. However, I believe that with our whole-hearted devotion and the supporting policy by the Hong Kong Government, we could overcome the upcoming difficulties. Last but not least, on behalf of the organizing committee, I wish the winners and all the participants every success in the future.

衷心的祝賀今年最佳資訊科技初創企業獎的參賽

者，所有入圍作品再一次展示了巨大的創新和創

造力。此獎項的優秀作品充分反映香港科技生態

系統的活力，以及本城強大的人才儲備。要從眾

多優秀作品中選擇優勝者實不容易。

相信大家都同意，資訊和通訊科技的開發對一個

城市的演進，特別是香港的發展非常重要。因為

香港在各方面包括商業、交通、教育、娛樂和環

境都需依賴安全及可靠的資訊和通訊科技，以發

展為智能城市。從我們所審查的作品中，我相信

香港的初創業企業將繼往開來，為我們創造更多

石破天驚，能改善生活的科技。能為此獎作評審

真是一個愉快的經驗。

在此，我想特別感謝評審委員會的各委員，在百

忙中撥冗為比賽作評審，亦感謝為籌辦此獎項及

相關活動而努力不懈的同事。最後，我要感謝所

I am writing this message with great pleasure to convey my hearty congratulations to the participants of this year’s Best ICT Startup Award, the entries of which once again showcase tremendous innovation and creativity. The quality entries of the Award have duly reflected the vibrancy of Hong Kong’s technological ecosystem as well as the strong talent pool of Hong Kong’s startups. It is no exaggeration to say that choosing the winners has never been easy.

It goes without saying, the advanced development of information and communication is highly important to a city’s evolution. This is particularly true with Hong Kong as we are heading towards a smart city where everything including business, transport, education, entertainment and environment would rely heavily on safe and sound information and communication technology. From the entries we reviewed, I am sure the startups has been and will continue playing a significant role in bringing ground-breaking, life-improving technology to our city. It was really a pleasant experience to be a member of the judging panel of this Award.

Before I close, I would like to give special thanks to my fellow judges for doing the evaluation for the entries among their hectic schedules, and to all those who have worked extremely hard for organising the Award and its related events. 邁特思香港有限公司成立於 2014 年，是一所提供 STEM 科學、科技教育產品及教育課程的公司。 公 司 的 名 稱 由 5 個 英 文 字 Mathematics，Engineering，Technology，Arts，Science 的 英文縮寫組成，正是其設計及研發產品的宗旨，為K-15 學生提供能透過動手實踐及反覆驗證來啟發創意思維、解難、批判性思維和協作能力，以便裝備自己面對未來的挑戰。

公司的核心產品是智能電子積木 (IO BITS)，IO BITS 包涵有基本電子及具有電腦編程功能的智能電子積木，只需數塊電子積木就可通過簡單的磁石拼接串聯出一條有輸入和輸出的簡單電路。公司亦設計了一系列的零售玩具組合，讓小朋友及青少年製作出自己設計及創造的科技原型，大大解決很多科創技術問題，讓他們更有效發揮創意製造屬於自己的世界。

METAS Hong Kong Ltd., established in 2014, is a manufacturer for providing STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) educational tools and curriculum for K-15 students. Its brand “METAS” is an acronym of Mathematics, Engineering, Technology, Arts, and Science education, representing the company’s philosophy of product design and innovation. The company aims to provide a fun, challenging and teamwork-based learning environment for children. Its goal is to nurture children with the ability in creativity, problem solving, critical thinking and collaboration so to equip themselves in facing their future challenges.

METAS IO Bits, the company’s core hardware, are intelligent electronic modules ranging from basic electronics to programmable units which can easily be connected together by magnets to form various circuits in second. The company offers a series of retail products for K-15 children. Using the elementary IO Bits, children can build and power up their fascinating models such as robotic dinosaurs, remote control vehicles, motorized cars easily. They are used to inspire and motivate children to think innovatively and to create their imaginary world.

The company, dedicated to developing and promoting educational toys in Hong Kong and the Mainland, brings good social value to both the educational sector and to the general public. It develops a broad range of children-safe and reusable products which are easy for even primary students to learn, DIY and play. More importantly, the children can be inspired and motivated to think innovatively. It is believed that by collaborating with more primary and secondary schools in both Hong Kong and the Mainland, the company should have great potential to grow further.

In addition, the company offers a set of STEM curriculum bundled together with its IO Bits. Its STEM curriculum covers basic electronic concept, making and building skill, kids coding and IOT education for K-15 students. The programmable IO Bits are compatible with open hardware such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi. They can be used for prototyping and teaching kids coding with open source Scratch, Apps Inventor II computer languages. The METAS curriculum can be adapted to either regular school courses or extra-curricular activities.

Dragon Creative Enterprise Solution Ltd. is a Hong Kong based IT Company, with affiliates in the Mainland China. Its founder strives to develop world-class smart glasses, and with the painstaking effort, the team has created MAD Gaze, bringing the public high-end technology with brand new experience. The product is a wearable tech-gadget that highly portable and compatible with daily life. Not only it runs Android OS, it connects with smart phones with same OS base. Image scanning, recording and visual displaying functions can all be finished/performed at the corner of one’s eye, free one’s hands from holding any devices.

Further to the success of the first generation of MAD Gaze for commercial use, the company successfully launched the second generation of the product which was targeted for the general public. With this expansion in the smart glass market from B2B to B2B2C, it is believed that the company, together with its own developed products, including the smart glasses, cloud platform and the e-marketplace, will create a perfect ecosystem which would help the company grow further in the smart glass market.

Its wireless connectivity capabilities are ready to serve users of various applications, from enterprise to household. The built-in apps were pre-installed for taking still pictures, recording and playing videos, track-timed events, linking to smartphones and other devices. The product is compatible with the complete ecosystem, the AR Cloud, which stored thousands of existing Android apps and apps customised by MAD Gaze users. Users can easily access to developer resources and create their own app to suit their needs. The product is currently widely recruited by different industries for productive use such as warehousing logistics, education, remote assistance, utilities, manufacturing and more.

Tronico Technology Co. Ltd. is specialist in designing and launching DIY wireless smart home devices & system. The company became a member company of Incu-Tech Programme, HKSTP in 2015.

The company launched its DIY wireless smart home system which is user-orientated and low cost. Users do not need to pay high engineering works for wiring and system setup in order to experience the smart home applications. It interoperates with different devices to achieve lighting control, home security, air-con control, scene control, power monitoring, real-time surveillance, etc. The company has successfully implemented the system for smart classroom, elder care, energy management for factory…etc.

雲馬科技有限公司成立於 2015 年 3 月，其推出的《街坊泥鯭》是一個以社交為中心的行程共享平台，讓會員可以發佈、搜尋和參與順風車共乘行程。公司奉行共享型經濟的理念，通過共享行程的方式，建立一個互助互利、具備信任基礎的共享型社區，實現社會與經濟效益的最大化。這個應用平台注入豐富的社交元素和體驗，將順風車共乘的意念重新定義，目標把概念文化推動和普及到不同的國家和城市，作全球化的發展與連接。

Wonma Technology Ltd. was established in March 2015 to build the social centric platform - 街 坊 泥 鯭 targeted to build a community base to share itinerary. Members can easily share their itinerary for hosting or joining a carpool in a social ambience. The business intends to further develop the platform to enable sharing with ease and making it possible for reliable social commerce. In recognizing this, the company develops 街 坊 泥 鯭 platform which gives users ability for such social sharing - chatroom, community news room and postboard to redefine carpooling and sharing ride. The company believes in this social dynamic of the current users, this will appeal strongly to different countries and cities and make the connection globalized.

雲馬科技擁有一支充滿活力的團隊。公司的共享經濟理念和平台的多樣網絡社交功能，使這個行程共享平台成為一個順風車共乘愛好者之間的網絡社區。這個平台能夠在很短的時間內（3 個月）成功招募一眾會員（ 23,000人 ），足以顯示其巨大的社會影響力。現時，使用人次已超過60,000。

The company has an energetic team. Its strong belief of sharing economy and social network functions made the platform a trusted community among the carpooling lovers. The platform demonstrates great social impact by drawing a big group of people (23,000) in a very short period of time (3 months), and the number of use has already exceeded 60,000.

Cognix成立於2014年，是一個集資訊科技、生物醫學工程以及健康科學等各領域人才的團隊。公司致力科研，開發創新的檢測、監察及改善長者認知能力的產品，以回饋社會。

公司研發了自助及互動形式的認知評估系統，名為「香港智能化認知評估平台」(HK-iCap)，適用於不同的長者服務機構，如非政府組織、長者中心、長者宿院、康復診所、醫院，甚至科研機構。通過這平台，長者服務機構可以對長者進行大規模的認知功能評估和篩查。系統無需專業人士操作，並可同時測試多位長者，以減低對人力資源及運作時間的需求。

Founded in November 2014, Cognix is a startup in techno-healthcare industry. The company is formed by a group of talents working in interdisciplinary field of information technology, biomedical science and health informatics. Its vision is dedicated to providing innovative cognitive assessment, monitoring and improvement solutions, and contributing the community and the society.

The company deve loped an in te rac t i ve cogn i t i ve assessment system, namely Hong Kong Intelligent Cognitive Assessment Platform (HK-iCap). The platform can serve any service providers for elderly including Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), elderly centres, elderly housing, rehabilitation centres, clinics, hospitals, and even research institutes. With the platform, they can deploy large scale, mass screening on the cognitive functions of their serving elderly. “Easycare” is a marketplace for healthcare professional service industry. The App-based platform provides standardize services and pricing. The user-friendly booking system only takes one minute - from choosing the service type, selecting preferred caregiver with ratings among several options, scheduling, to payment. Care receiver then sit back and relax, knowing the service they need has been confirmed on the booked date and location. Easycare also aggregates jobs in the same district and on the same date, so these qualified caregivers can minimize the lean time from one job to another.

俠有限公司成立於 2014 年，旗下「洗車俠」平台一方面為車主提供優質的上門汽車清潔及美容服務，同時利用社會上閒置的人力資源，培訓退休長者及家庭主婦等，利用公司的專用清潔工具，為車主進行汽車清潔。工作人員可自行選擇居住地點附近的工作，工時一般少於30分鐘，即可獲得雙倍於法定最低工資的酬金。

平台推出半年，已獲超過6,500車主及超過500位工作人員登記使用。

The Hero Enterprise was established in 2014. Its app-based platform “CarWash.HK” is aimed to unleash the power of the retired and/or housewives by providing professional training as well as easy-to-do car-cleaning jobs to them. Car owners usually find difficulties to have convenient car cleaning service. The platform matches the car owners’ needs with the workers and provides on-site service matching with the workers’ residential area. Workers who use the company’s specialized light-weight tools can finish their work within 30 minutes and get a reward which is double of the statutory minimum wage.

The platform has launched for half-a-year and has got huge attention by having 6500+ registered car owners and 500+ registered workers.

Over the course of only 11 months, the platform has recorded 150k registered unique members and the daily active usage is up to 22% in different outlets. Compared with traditional physical member card based loyalty program, the usage is less than 5%. In the next phase, the platform will provide data analysis to the merchants regarding the consumer behavior of their loyal customers. The merchants can then utilize such information to plan for their marketing and promotion campaigns.

Pricing is one the most difficult parts on all e-commerce merchants. Viewider built a mechanism that collecting and analyzing global e-commerce marketplace items and transactions data to design the optimal pricing model on each SKU (stock keeping unit). On top of it, the company is establishing an e-commerce standard, to allow merchants have better understanding of e-commerce environment.

Many fashion designers and brands have star ted to incorporate technology in traditional fashion products. The fashion-tech-wear market will reach US$1 trillion by 2020 and today’s businesses needs to adapt quickly to this change. “Techpacker.com” is a web application for fashion brands to smartly manage product development through production with minimum effort. The product was born out of the need for an affordable and easy to use PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) tool for small and growing fashion brands to manage complicated fashion styles each season with factories and colleagues. Thousands of new-age fashion companies in 86 countries use this application to manage styles and work together with colleagues and factories.

Dragon Law was launched in Hong Kong in 2014 to help businesses of all sizes draft legal documents, access legal advice, get incorporated, register trademarks and obtain visas. By leveraging technology and working hand-in-hand with several of the local and international law firms, the company provides an end-to-end solution to clients’ legal needs that is 10 times faster; 5 to 10 times cheaper; and safer. 

In 2015 the company expanded to Singapore. By combining technology and customer service, startups sign up for an integrated solution to their legal needs that is affordable and reliable. Larger companies sign up to increase focus, save time and money and decrease risk by improving compliance.

beNovelty Ltd. was established in June 2015 by a group of music lovers and engineers. The company has vision to utilize technology’s full potential in music education to make quality music instructions more accessible, efficient and affordable. Its product “TapTab.io”, which is being used in schools, music centres and by book publishers, is a digital music education platform for music teachers to create interactive lessons. Teachers only need to upload a musical score and video/audio (optional). Then, the platform will generate the interactive scores. It is a bit like karaoke with an emphasis on playing instruments.

For students, they are in control of their learning, so there is no more stress from the limited time in class. They can imitate teacher’s performance, slow down the pace and add other instruments to mimic playing in an orchestra anytime. For teachers, the platform can be used in school and community-based youth programmes. It encourages content creation and fully utilizes all teaching materials. Student usage is tracked in the platform, so teachers are always a click away from monitoring student progress.
