Charlotte Warr Andersen

Charlotte Warr Andersen is an avid and well-known quilter. A native Utahn, she was born in Salt Lake City and has lived there all her life. Many needle skills were learned from her mother but she considers most of her quilting skills to be self-taught or acquired by good observation. Most known for her pictorial quilts, Charlotte has au-thored four books: Faces & Places – Images in Appliqué, Focus on Features – Life-like Portraits in Appliqué. Unfor-tunately, these books are out-of-print but are available in print-on-demand format. One Line at a Time and One Line at a Time Encore, Charlotte’s machine quilting books, are currently available and feature a unique approach to ma-chine quilting. Charlotte also enjoys making wearable art. Stitching a portrait is her favorite pastime. Charlotte takes pleasure in traveling and teaching her stitching and quilting methods. She has enjoyed being part of the BERNINA team as an ambassador for about 15 years.

Confessions of a Self-Taught EmbroidererNovember 10 10:30am - 3:30Taught by Charlotte Warr Andersen BERNINA Ambassador When I fi rst heard about machine embroi-dery I had very little interest in it, until I found out that I could digitize MY OWN DESIGNS! After having a few brief sessions on how the software and machine work. I set about teaching myself how to design using the soft-ware with the help of the manual and online tutorials and what I learned in class. I’ll tell you about my progression, show you examples of my work (some pieces are award winners) and let you, who are perhaps better educated about the process, tell me how I could have accomplished what I did more easily. I might even have a few tech-niques that will appeal to you. Morning will be a presentation and great show of gar-ments and quilts. In the afternoon we will have a chance to digitize some-thing that you can take home to stitch out.
