HOW TO INCLUDE THE ST MARGARET’S FOUNDATION IN YOUR WILLThe foundation recommends the inclusion of the following wording, adjusted to mirror your wishes:

I give …(nominate the type of bequest i.e. money, personal property etc) free of all duties, estate succession or otherwise to the St Margaret’s Foundation to be applied for the general purposes of the Foundation and I declare that the receipt by the secretary, or other proper officer of the Foundation, for the time being shall constitute a full and sufficient discharge to my Executors and Trustees. I further declare the Executors and Trustees shall not be obliged to see or enquire into the application of money or assets, the subject of this gift.

Have you thought of remembering St Margaret’s in your Will? One way that members of the School community can help the Foundation achieve its goals is by providing a bequest to the St Margaret’s Foundation. A bequest to the School is a long-lasting gift that helps secure the future of the School and it is an opportunity for you to make a very special, tangible and lasting gift that will touch the lives of St Margaret’s students for generations to come.

Your bequest will be used as you wish and direct and may take the form of one of the following options:An Unrestricted Bequest. This is the most commonly received bequest and, in the long term, does the most good as it increases the corpus of invested funds.A Specific Bequest. You can direct your bequest to an area of the School that has touched your life - i.e. a music Scholarship or perhaps a Boarding Scholarship. Your bequest could also be directed to those scholarships designed to enable the enrolment of worthy, eligible students not in a financial position to attend St margaret’s.

WHAT FORM CAN A BEqUEST TAkE?personal gifts such as a bequest can be made in a variety of ways to reflect your particular wishes. These gifts can be made as follows:1. A Percentage Bequest. This style of bequest ensures that your

other beneficiaries are not affected by possible changes in the size of your estate, or by inflation.

2. A Residue Bequest. This takes the form of part or all of your estate (the residue) after you have provided for your family and friends.

3. A Set Sum Bequest. This is the simplest form of bequest but it has the disadvantage of not making allowances for inflation or any change in your circumstances. regular review is therefore recommended.

4. A Specific Asset/s. You may prefer to will to the School assets such as collections of a valuable nature, works of art, memorabilia, shares, real estate, and/or collections.

of course, any bequest may be of any combination of the above.

DO YOU NEED HELP? if you would like a have a confidential discussion with a foundation Director regarding a possible bequest and related areas such as the preparation of a will or amendment to an existing document, please call the St margaret’s foundation manager on (07) 3862 0788. The School is prepared to meet the cost of your initial consultation with your solicitor to take instructions and oversee the execution of a new basic will or codicil. we are also able to offer assistance by putting you in touch with specialists in the area of will, probate and estate administration. please let us know how we can assist you.

OUR SCHOOL:The Sisters of the Society of the Sacred Advent arrived in Brisbane in 1892. The ongoing evidence of their vision and vocation can be seen today as St margaret’s (established in 1895) is perceived as one of the leading day and boarding girls’ schools in queensland. The School’s continued success has been due to the guidance of the Sisters, a history of dedicated teachers and the willing support of parents, pupils and friends of the School throughout the generations.St margaret’s today is a technology-rich school that offers a broad curriculum, a rich variety of extra-curricular activities, innovative teaching methods, vocational education and an open enrolment policy. it caters for both the gifted and those in need of additional support in an environment that is caring and friendly.School fees do not have the capacity to cover the operating costs of a school and to fund its ongoing development. new buildings, the upgrade and refurbishment of existing facilities and the expansion of the School by the acquisition of additional land and similar projects designed to help to grow the School’s infrastructure must therefore be funded by other sources. The St margaret’s foundation was established in 2004 to address the funding of the ever-growing needs of the School. The aims of the foundation are to support the School in realising its master development plan and to provide a corpus of invested funds from which ongoing dividends can be used to address the future growth and stability of the School.
