Exalted Ruler’s Message

By: Danny Ball

Hi everyone and congratulations to our new Officers who have taken us

through our first month in their respective positions. We are already two

meetings in and our Degree team has initiated a new member. Have you

renewed your membership? April 1st was the due date for that. Please get

your membership renewals in so that you won`t be denied all our Lodge has

to offer you.

Debbie, our House Committee Chairperson, is off to a great start and had a

full room of volunteers at her first meeting in April. Two extra events were

planned for April; A half chicken dinner on Friday April 15th that went very

well and a Lasagna Dinner on Sunday April 17th that had a mediocre

attendance due to a missed opportunity to advertise it more effectively. That

won`t happen going forward because I am personally going to follow-up on

our Monarch Calendar entries to be sure that we are all on the same page and

everyone gets notified so none of the fun is missed. Please watch for the

Blasts and check out the large calendar posted on our A-Frame as you enter

the Lodge. On that note I want to invite all of our Elk Mothers out there to

attend our Annual Mother`s Day Ceremony at 10am on May 8th, followed by

a nice brunch with Drink Specials of Mimosa and Bloody Marys in the

Social Quarters.

Some of our Officers will be attending the AEA Meeting in Tempe on May

12th.13th, & 14th. Helping all our Lodges in the State of Arizona stay aligned

in meeting our Obligations.

On a final note, I want to wish all of our members pleasant times going

forward into spring and ask that you think of us and visit the Social Quarters

often. There is no finer place to relax and meet with your fellow Elks to

enjoy one another`s company through the brotherhood of Elkdom.

Yours in service

Danny Ball

AEMP Newsletter Article May 2016

Why a Will? Despite modern science and amazing research… the death rates for humans remains 100%. It may strike you as funny. But, why then do people continue to die without a will? A will is critical to ensure that your wishes are known. It is your money. Make sure someone know and trust is spending it. Choose what you care about and give to it. Be sure that you spell out your wishes. Ask yourself these questions:

Do you want someone you know to decide where your money goes?

Do you want that persons pay and expenses to eat up your money? Do you want the court to give your money to the state since you

have no plan? Finally, no matter how much is left will you make your plan direct

and easy, or drawn out and complex? Elks across America know their rights and responsibilities. Your duty is to care for your family and the things you care about most. Why a will? Because it leaves no doubt about how you wish your money be spent. The death rate remains 100%. More than 50% knew this and failed to plan. But you can be among the 100% Giving Elks Forever by doing your will now. When you do, leave a portion to Arizona Elks Major Projects. Do it now. Tell your story. Be proud, responsible and generous, today! Get Ready to Raffle! Tickets for the 2016 Polaris RZR Raffle are available at your Lodge. Get some, Sell some. Let’s make this the best Raffle ever! You can see the RZR at the State Convention. Come sneak a peak and see what kinds of fun you might be in for.

One month in to the new Elk year and we hit the road running. On April 2, Casas Adobes Elks had a working the AEMP booth at the 4th Avenue Street Fair. A big Thanks to Mike Comerford, Marv Thompson, Cat Taylor, Brian Taylor & my girls; Georgette, Elsie & Camille for helping and supporting our helpers. We had a good early morning shift and as always we had a good time. Did you volunteer or have an event that was Elks related? Be sure to fill out an activities report so our Lodge can get credit for the number of Volunteer's and their total hours. Don't forget mileage if you had to travel to the event. If you’re not sure if your event qualifies or if you need help with the activities report, see either myself of Don Baker. Keep an eye out for the "Dan's Pencil Project" boxes. It'll soon be that time of year again when we collect school supplies for our friends at Laguana Elementary School. I'm in the early planning stages for our annual Charity Ball. If you would like to assist or have any ideas, please let me know. Fraternally, Dan Rhoads

Team Elks Lodge #2663. Great time tonight bowling for the Veteran's Volunteer Services of our own Southern Az. VA here in Tucson. Allen Turner and

Denise Turner were wonderful bowlers and Tammy and Tony were powerhouses on their lane. OC made a good showing while Sharon Miller revived her (I won't say how old bowling ball was) and sent it cautiously down the lane. My bowling sucked but it was about showing up for the Veteran's like our Elk's always do.

We weren't totally un-rewarded as OC won a 50/50 drawing and I won flat screen TV. — with Allen Turner, Denise Turner, Joe & Sharon Miller, Tammy Whittaker-Miller and Carolyn Lopez.

Another successful year at the 4th Ave. Street Fair- Thanks to Mike

Comerford , Marv Thompson, Brian Taylor (big guy in the back row) Dan

Rhoads, and Cat Taylor- Great Job and Kudos to the Casas Adobes Elk

Lodge #2663 crew.

Tucson Desert Rambler News: By Richard Ruder

The Desert Ramblers held the April meeting 10 minutes late due to a traffic jam on highway 10. Items discussed included future campsites, wagonmasters and the 2017 March campout at Catalina State Park. The April campout was cancelled due to lack of participation. The 2017 October campout is tentatively set for Aravaipa on the 13 -16. As there are no meetings during the summer our next meeting will be OCTOBER 3, 2016. Have a great and save summer.
