Department of Canadian HeritageCanadian Culture in China Brochure

The Government of Canada and its partners are

showcasing Canadian culture and identity during

major celebrations and cultural events in China,

including the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic

Summer Games and the World Exposition in Shanghai,

China in 2010.

This trilingual (English, French, Chinese) brochure

showcases the work of Canadian artists and producers

of culture. It also includes a three-year calendar that

highlights major cultural events in China in which

Canada has been or will be an active participant.

Department of Canadian Heritage World Poetry Day

This project included a poster and web site campaign

designed to encourage Canadian students to celebrate

UNESCO’s World Poetry Day on March 21.

The “puzzle piece” concept illustrates

Canada’s linguistic diversity, as well as its role as a

producer of culture on the world stage.

Department of Canadian Heritage2002 Royal Visit Web Site2002 Golden Jubilee Web Site

February 6, 2002 marked the 50th anniversary of

Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne.

Canadian Golden Jubilee festivities began in

February 2002 with the launch of celebrations by the

Minister of Canadian Heritage. The highlight of the

year’s activities was the royal visit of Her Majesty

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh in October 2002.

I was responsible for creating the official Canadian web

sites of the Queen’s Golden Jubilee and royal visit.

Department of Canadian Heritage Corporate Look Toolkit & Photo Bank The goal of this project was to harmonize the look of

all corporate publications produced by the Department

of Canadian Heritage.

I oversaw production of electronic templates, style

guides and printing standards for the corporate look.

I also edited and revised a guide to publishing

documents at Canadian Heritage.

During this project I organized a database of

copyright-compliant digital photography for use in

government web sites and publications.

I helped select and edit this collection of photos that

illustrate the department’s mandate, values and goals.

Once completed, I created an intranet-based photo

catalogue accessible to Canadian Heritage clients

across Canada.

Fairness for Ontario’s Infertile FamiliesConceivableDreams.org

A lead-up event to Canadian Infertility Awareness Week

NOW is the time for us to band together with courage and pride to be heard!

Almost twenty years have passed since the Ontario government stopped funding in-vitro fertilization (IVF).

Ontario’s infertile families suffer the emotional, physical and economic burden in silence.

Imagine a sea of baby strollers (a.k.a. prams) pushed by infertility patients, their friends, family members (including children conceived through IVF) and supporters marching to Queen’s Park.

JOIN US ON MOTHER’S DAY TO PUSH A PRAM, CARRY A SIGN

OR MARCH!

Conceivable DreamsPram Push Poster

Conceivable Dreams is an organization whose goal

is to lobby the Government of Ontario for increased

financial support and medical coverage for families

with infertility issues.

Conceivable Dreams organized a demonstration on

Mother’s Day 2009 and invited families to march in

Toronto with symbolically empty baby strollers.

This poster was distributed to fertility clinics and

medical centres across Ontario prior to the event.

My Dad vs YoursBrand identity

My Dad vs Yours are a Canadian post-rock band

whose electronic beats, atmospheric guitar and

instrumental textures co-exist in vibrant harmony.

I created a multimedia web site and a thematically

related album sleeve whose visuals are inspired by the

unique music of my Dad vs Yours.

The Reverb SyndicateBrand Identity

The Reverb Syndicate is a “Spy-Fi” surf band from

Canada who have been playing together since 2006.

Their music is described as “soundtracks to 1960s

spy films that don’t exist”. They toured England and

Scotland in 2008 and have released two studio albums;

Operation: Jet Set! (2006) and Sputnik A-Go-Go (2007).

With their back story in mind, I created a fictional

on-line universe and alter egos for this unique band.

Products include an interactive spy-themed web site;

a signature logo; illustrated personas; and animated

flash cartoons of the band’s surfadelic misadventures.

The Reverb SyndicateOperation: Jet Set!

The Reverb Syndicate’s debut album “Operation: Jet Set”

was released in 2006. The retro surf style of the album

lent itself perfectly to a 60’s inspired visual package.

Pastel colours and whimsical illustrations recall the

band’s affinity for all things kitsch and pop.

The Reverb SyndicateSputnik A-Go-Go

Space! The final frontier for the Reverb Syndicate’s

sophomore album, “Sputnik A-Go-Go.” Released in

2007, we find our heroes in the middle of a new space

aged cold war...That is, until things heat up when two

Reverb agents encounter the “Soviet Sisters.”

The cosmic artwork and additional character design

for the Sputnik-surfing Soviet Sisters was inspired by

the band’s new spaced-out sonic direction.
