Belwest Phoenix U10 (white) at McKellar Park
Round 12 was special one for the boys in the Phoenix (and Coach), with a specially scheduled match at McKellar Park, home ground for Belconnen United FC and the W-League team Canberra United.
Phil Van Dissel, from BUFC, tried to get as many of the younger Belconnen teams to play at McKellar as possible, giving the boys the experience the premier league experience.
After warming up out in the middle, the Phoenix headed in to their own heated change room, before charging out in to the middle for what was an outstanding match against the Belnorth Strikers.
The excitement showed (in both teams) with a lot of energy and fantastic play from both teams in the first half.

Following a half time return to the heated change rooms the Phoenix unfortunately fell behind, the Strikers making the most of some good possession and persistence in attack.
All credit to the Phoenix they never stopped playing, passing and working together to keep making chances right till the end.
A big thanks to Phil (who has already been petitioned to make the day a regular occurrence) for creating the opportunity, the boys had a blast - even staying for photos long after the stadium had emptied.
Did I mention the heated change rooms?!

From The Grill
Another successful year behind the grill with all weeks filled by many of the club volunteers (we like to call you supporters)
It was great to see some of the same faces return to chip in for a hour or two...sometimes 3 !!!! it was also great to meet some of you for the first time as well.
Again many thanks to those supporters helping out in the mornings either setting –up, cut ‘n’ buttering, packing buns, any kind of assistance here makes it easier to keep the BBQ moving in the mornings.
I must also mention the help in the afternoons, the last supporters helped pack away.....believe me the help after a long day is even more appreciated.
Many thanks must also go out to Thomas (awarded head chef) and Lachlan (awarded butterer & all around good kid) Boys, your support of the BBQ and the club this year, again, was fantastic.
Also a thank you must go out to the Belwest Committee, assisting on the BBQ, when they had a few minutes just adds to my appreciation after the amount of time they put into our club.
The big question still lingers, did the BBQ blitz the Canteen this year.? This remains unanswered until our Treasurer is back !!!!
A final hooroo from the me, have a great break from the beautiful game at Latham, look forward to catching up with you in 2015.
See you all next year at ‘the pit’
Regards, Shaun Comber

Belwest U16 Open
Thanks to all our Coaches in 2014As we have finished the Youth Competition, I’d like to thank all our Coaches for their terrific work ethic they have shown through out the football season.
The club can really be proud of you and the effort you have put in to coach each of our teams. Girls, Boys, Players with Disability, young and old.
At this point I like to think that the parents of all players also appreciate the time you have put in for this important work.
With out your help, there would be no progress made towards improving and putting our methods of coaching into practice for the games every Weekend. You have done a wonderful Job. Thank you.
As you may have noticed through out the season I have aimed to visit every team at training and at the games.
If I have missed your team please accept my apologies and I will do my best to visit you the next year.
Please note Capital Football hold Coaching Courses through out the year so check their website for details.

Are you Coaching in 2015
Coaches could you please let me know if you are available and intend to coach next season and indicate what age or team you would like to Coach.
Before next season I aim to put the final touches on the Belwest Coaching Program which you will find on the Belwest website under Coaching. You will be able to get more ideas and plan your training sessions.
My Assistant Chris Rogers is getting married in the off-season and best wishes to Chris. At this stage we don’t know if Chris will continue assisting me in the coming year.
I have enjoyed working with and for you and look forward to do this again next year. Have a great holiday and festive season and a happy New Year,2015.
