Belmont Transport Package• The Belmont Transport Package appraisal is considering

interventions to meet local issues and challenges.

• These interventions will consider both measures on existing road network and a new road link in an attempt to provide suitable solutions.

• A full appraisal of impacts of each package of measures is being undertaken following relevant guidance.

• This meeting will provide an update on work done to date, provide a detailed update on the assessment of a new road link and explain work yet to be done and detail of next steps.

• Formal public consultation on whole package of measures will follow in coming months.

The appraisal process follows guidance as set out in Department for Transport web based Transport Analysis Guidance (WebTAG) and considers:

•environmental impacts;

•social impacts;

•economic impacts; and

•public accounts.

“Emerging Route”

•Although some elements of the appraisal process have not yet been completed, it is possible at this stage to provide information on the current ‘emerging preferred option for a new highway link’ which will form part of the overall package of measures.

•There is still further work to be completed to provide a definitive preferred option for the Belmont Transport Package.
