It is that time of year when Blossom Hill and Daves Avenue Schools showcase their theatrical talents. Please join us for Peter Panic, a musical comedy that reminds all of us ~ young and young-at heart ~ of the importance of following our dreams! In this play, the local high school is facing budget cutbacks and the school’s drama club is caught in the crosshairs. In an effort to avoid certain disaster, Pam, the president of the high school drama club, rallies her fellow actors and attempts to put on a production of Peter Pan. Across campus, Coach Rook, the head coach of the football team, has other plans. Also facing a budget crisis, he enlists his team of Pirates to wreak havoc on the drama club. Before long football players are auditioning for parts, cheerleaders become mermaids, and even students from detention play the Lost Boys. Just when all seems lost, star quarterback Tinkerman, who plays – you guessed it – Tinkerbell, sacrifices everything, including his football career, so the show can go on and Pam can see her dream come true! This refreshingly clever and fun homage to the original classic is full of heart and will remind all members of the audience to follow their dreams. MILEAGE CLUB UPDATE January 2016

Mileage Club begins Thursday, February 11 (weather permitting).

Mr. Lux will be visiting all classrooms during the week of February 1 to explain the Mileage Club program and answer any questions students may have. Mileage Club will run from Thursday, February 11 through Friday, May 6. There will be no make up days due to rain.

In it’s 18th year, Mileage Club is a free lunch-recess program, funded entirely by the Home & School Club.  All 1st-5th grade students are automatically enrolled. The students run, walk, or skip around a marked ¼ mile course. Each grade level gets 20 minutes on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday to participate.

A special token is awarded for each mile and card completed. When card #6 is complete, the student will be awarded a marathon medal at an assembly in May. If card #11 is complete, the student will also be issued an Ultra-Marathon trophy at the same assembly.

Additional parent volunteers are always welcome. Please contact our volunteer coordinator, Jeannine Torrecillas at [email protected] if you wish to get involved.

Mr. Lux handles all set-up, organization, and problems.

$225,000 TO GO---WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT TODAY

January 29 Deadline Only Two Days Away! Dear Parents and Guardians, I appealed to you last week to help LGEF raise $300,000 by Jan. 29. We thank those who responded for their generosity. As of the writing of this article, we have $225,000 to go. If you have not yet donated, it is urgent that you do so today. LGEF programs support your child’s science, music, art and social-emotional learning programs. Since all students benefit from these programs, we ask all families for their support. With 100% parent participation, LGEF can reach its goal. We appreciate your support, and look forward to thanking donors in a special Thank You issue of LGEF Education Update in February. Don’t delay. Donate today! All The Best, Nick Goddard, President of LGEF [email protected]
