Nineteen sixty seven marked the end of an era and the beginning of a new one at Bear Archery, after 17 years of production the Super Kodiak replaced

the very popular Kodiak line of bows.

The excitement built around this bow was so great that a 1967-1/2 catalog was printed just to introduce this new bow. The same design and craftsmanship has stayed true over the past 44 years making this bow a legend just like the man who once mastered it.

Fred used this model bow for many years on quests for African lion, cape buffalo, Alaskan polar bear and the British Columbia grizzly bear. Still to this day the Super Kodiak is one of the smoothest, finest shooting bows available.

First introduced in 2002 the Cheyenne project was brought about between father and son. Grant Neil Byce II came out of retirement to work on this special project with his

son Grant Neil Byce III, currently Bear’s Operations Manager.

Having worked for Bear for 33 years, 11 of those as Mr.Bear’s master bowyer, the senior Byce knew a thing ortwo about bow design.

The overall AMO length of 55” is just enough to handlethe swept back style limbs of the TakeDown, whilethe grip is designed to feel full in the hand whileincorporating the “half-moon styling, that isreminiscent of some of Fred’s favorite bows ofthe early 60's.
