From the Principal Welcome to Week 7!
We have had another busy month since our last newsletter.
As a staff, a key focus for this year has been on the transversal skills students require to become successful learners in life, and have spent time identifying the skills we are explicitly working on with the students of Beachport Primary School.
The teachers have begun “Split screen lessons” where the learning intention is identified with students at the beginning of the lesson, along with the learning skill, which the students will be developing.
For example, the students may be learning about Science, mixing colours and examining change, AND developing the learning skill of collaboration by working in groups, taking turns and supporting others in their learning. An example from Mrs Mac’s room
The teachers have been displaying the learning intention and learning skill for each lesson, please talk to your child about the skills they are developing!
In Week 9, we look forward to Grandparents Day at Beachport Primary School. On the morning of Tuesday June 23rd, Grandparents will be invited to our school to spend time with their grandchild/ren in class from 9-10am, followed by a morning tea in the Library. If a grandparent is unable to make it, our students are very welcome to invite a special Grand-friend. Students will be sending home invites this week. If anyone would like to bake for the morning tea, please let Monica know.
Please note that the last day of Term 2 finishes at 2:15pm and is a CASUAL DAY.

On Tuesday the Middle Primary were learning about Aboriginal shelters. First we saw some pictures that
showed us how to make them. So we thought we might make our own. First we made our own
backgrounds then we went outside and made them. We were only allowed to use leaves, sticks, and bark.

Walk in May
Upper Primary: March in May
Year 7 YELP Camp
Last Thursday the UP class went for a walk in the Canunda National Park. It was a fun/really wet
day. I learnt that the Aboriginal people would make their own entertainment and even invent
their own games. We walked 8.5 kilometres—Finleigh
