If a laboratory fire erupts, notify your teacher immediately.

A fire blanketfire blanket can also be used toextinguish a burning object.

Every classroom has a fire blanketfire blanket.

If an object on a person (i.e. sleeveor hair) catches fire, use the blanket.

If necessary, stop, drop and roll.

Aim low at the base of the fire.

Squeeze the top handle or lever.

Sweep from side to side until the fire is completely out.

All lab chemicals are to be considered dangerous.Follow instructions and report incidents to your teacher!

Should you feel a chemical irritation on your skinor hands, wash the area immediately with water.

Some chemicals are safe to dispose of downthe sink. Others require collection and properdisposal. Know what to do before doing it!

In the event of glass breakage, never handle broken glass with your bare hands. Notifyyour teacher for assistance, and put brokenglass in the glass waste box in Rm 768.
