    1 Introduction

ecades of research and de5elo!ment of LS8 in the field of fire detection control !anel technology andthe successful coo!eration %ith reno%ned international test authorities led to the de5elo!ment of thene% fire detection control !anels '()*+-* and '(net)*+ of LS8.

8he fire detection control !anel '()*+-* %as drafted as a com!act control !anel for a!!lication in firedetection systems of small and medium si@e. 8he control !anel '(net)*+ is based on the successfulconce!t of the '()*+-* and additionally offers all ad5antages of a modern net%ork technology. #t con-sists of se5eral sectional control !anels %hich are allocated eBactly %here they are needed most - in the5icinity of the fire detectors. 8his net%ork control !anel is a!!lied in fire detection systems of me-dium to 5ery large si@e and s!atially highly ramified systems. ue to net%ork technology the connec-tions of the fire detectors to the control !anel can be established 5astly more efficient than incon5entional fire detection technology.

ue to the modular structure of the control !anels these !roducts of high Auality can be combined tohighly fleBible systems of fire detection technology. 'esides less cabling %ork6 the failure safety of thesystem is 5astly im!ro5ed by combining se5eral intelligent sectional control !anels to an o5erall system

by means of net%ork technology.8he high failure safety6 the modular structure using standardi@ed com!onents6 the sim!licity of o!era-tion but also the high Auality standards of LS8 for de5elo!ment and manufacture classify the fire detec-tion control !anels '()*+-* and '(net)*+ as the most modern high !erformance control !anelsa5ailable in the %orld.

8his &ser Manual is not designed as a descri!tion of or as an o!erating instruction for a fire detectionsystem. 8herefore6 detailed instructions for ho% to act in case of an alarm or a fault are not gi5en. #ndi-5idual differences in the 5ariety of com!onents used and in the setu! are so eBtensi5e that an efficientgeneral descri!tion of the system or of the organi@ation in case of an alarm %ould not be !ossible.

ue to national guidelines or regulations and local restrictions6 some of the described functions of the

control !anel can be used only selecti5ely or maybe e5en not at all. uthori@ation to o!erate the control!anel is also regulated differently in different communities. ;urthermore6 many features are only a5ail-able if the a!!ro!riate o!tional com!onentries are installed.
