Wake up, hang out with the authentic twins, put them on school bus, grab tea and turn on computers, answer emails, think, think, organise shows, chat to complete strangers, stick up calendar months with shows on them, create lists, think, think, pick up girls from school bus, lunch, more emails, gym, bathtime with girls, bedtime with girls, dinner, more emails and thinking or show to go and manage/MC, sleep. The Underground is your third baby, how has it changed as its grown up? It’s gotten to become bigger than I expected, with interns and crew involved – all wonderful people. It’s become more professional which I love. The website is so cool with lots of information about Hong Kong bands. We’re now working on adding band interviews now to give people MORE information on bands in and coming to Hong Kong. Everyone involved in The Underground are musicians so we’re very passionate about what we do. Last month Rustic, China's entry to GBOB won the world final - what do you think that says about the music scene in China today? It means we can finally stick two fingers up at people who think the only good music and bands must be coming out of England or US hahahahahaa Seriously though, I think it means that bands are going to make it out of China onto the International circuit! What is the your favourite gig that you organised? That’s an impossible question to answer!! I LOVE organizing shows! They are all my favourites J I mean sure some have been disastrous (Underground 69 comes to mind…) hahahaha ALL of them have been educational, even after organising over 150 shows, I still learn stuff, make mistakes, get things right, etc. Did you know the first show I ever organised was Fugazi in Hong Kong? My folder filled with paper was 2 inches thick (this was ahem pre-Internet days) hahahaha I think I will daringly say Underground 100 which we’re starting to organise now J What about the worst? I guess it must have been Underground 69! It took me months to convince Durex to give me condoms for the event then we had a too racy poster (in your face sex doesn’t work in HK). 3 out of 4 bands, the vocalists were ill or some other problem. Then we had our lowest attendance whatsoever. L The up side was, my team had stacks of condoms and vibrating rings to take home…. What's happened to Chris B, the musician, future plans? Chris B the musician is frustrated! My girl band (Guitars & Panties) desperately needs a female drummer who can keep the beat, my other band (Thinking Out Loud) desperately needs a first class bassist. I put up ads on The Underground website and one girl replied to the drumming ad but when she found out it was Guitars & Panties, she declared she wasn’t going to be in the ‘that sort’ of band…. Hmmm I love to perform and sing and play Fender Strat so Chris B the musician is still definitely around! I hope to get both bands complete again and get on with creating songs and gigging again. The Underground is your third baby, how has it changed as its grown up?It’s gotten to become bigger than I expected, with interns and crew involved – all wonderfulpeople. It’s become more professional which I love. The website is so cool with lots ofinformation about Hong Kong bands. Last month Rustic, China's entry to GBOB won the world final - what do you thinkthat says about the music scene in China today? It means we can finally stick two fingers up at people who think the only good music andbands must be coming out of England or US hahahahahaa Seriously though, I think it meansthat bands are going to make it out of China onto the International circuit!
