EMERGENCY RESPONSE PLAN

Each team will be provided a detailed Emergency Response Plan in their Coaching Package and this will be reviewed at the Coaches Meeting.

MANDATORY EQUIPMENT CHECKS Teams should have their local Risk Management Coordinator do an equipment check prior to travel to the tournament in order to ensure compliance before travel. The RMC will do an equipment check before the start of each team’s first game and randomly throughout the tournament. Players will not be able to participate with illegal/worn equipment.

TEAM HOSTS AND “7TH MAN”

Each team will be assigned an adult Team Host who will welcome your team to the community and be available throughout the tournament to assist with navigating the community, and support coaching staff and players with assistance as needed. One player will be assigned to each team to join in the Opening Ceremony and cheer on the team throughout the tournament. We ask that teams bring an extra jersey (smaller if possible) that can be worn by the assigned player during the Opening Ceremony.

The town of 100 Mile House welcomes all players, coaches, officials, volunteers and general participants of the BC Hockey Midget Tier 3 Championships! 100 Miles from where? Where is 100 Mile House 100 miles from? The name originated in the 1860’s, indicating 100 miles from Lillooet, the starting point of the Cariboo Wagon Road, a 300 mile trek to the Barkerville gold fields. “The Rush for Gold?” The origins of Bridge Creek Estate and the town of 100 Mile House begin in the early 1800’s when the region’s bountiful wildlife attracted fur traders. The Hudson’s Bay Company’s historic fur Brigade Trail ran from Kamloops to Fort Alexandria, and the Valley of Bridge Creek became a favorite campground, offering green pastureland and fresh water. When a small settlement was built here it became known as ‘Bridge Creek’ named for the bridge built circa 1827. When gold was first discovered in the early 1860’s a stream of adventures began to ply the long road north from Vancouver to the Cariboo. The primary modes of travel were by steamship as far north as Lillooet. And then by stagecoach and wagon north to Barkerville (Mile 300). Between 1862 and 1870 over 100,000 people traveled the Cariboo Wagon Road, many from as far away as Eastern Canada, the United States, the British Isles, China and all of Europe. 108 Heritage Site Located along Hwy 97, you will find the 108 Heritage Site. Tourists and locals are welcome year round. The site is open for daily tours mid May to September. While most of the buildings are original to the site, a few have been moved to the location. Road Houses Scattered along the Cariboo Gold Rush Trail are a series of roadhouses. Usually within a day’s ride of each other, the roadhouses were most often built where water and grasslands were plentiful. Those on the way to the gold fields to the north stopped overnight for a meal, a bed and a place to water and feed their horses. Road contractors or those who didn’t fare so well in the gold fields were often responsible for building the stopping houses. They in turn became the pioneers of the area and developed communities and local businesses.
