Lim Zu ErManager of purchasing departmentEastern Hotel4.0 TASK 3Research paper is a report that a student who study in a collage or a university presents based on the investigation on a topic. The student usually needs to point out his/her view clearly, directly and keep it short and sweet. The information can be divided into two varieties which are good information and bad information. Good information usually can be found from a reliable source, not long ago, original of information, do not have errors, do not have any deviation on comments and easy to acquire while bad information are not really reliable, out dated, do not know the origin of information, have error, partial to a side of view and hardly to find. Many students will find the information for their report or assignment. How are they found the information? It is through some means which are primary and secondary source, search from web, books, magazines and journals.First, it is through primary and secondary source. What is primary source? It is the source which straightly joint to our topic that we had studied. We can know these as the original data from the initiator. For an example, you can read the things that Lincoln had written and it might publish or we can find it in the library if we are the students of Abraham Lincoln. The secondary source is converses with the primary source which it is not straightly joint to our topic. For instance, a professor had written a biography of Lincoln and this biography is the secondary source for the readers. The sources that the professor referred to is primary sources, after referring, he/she wrote the biography. Usually, the students need to use the primary and secondary source to do their reports or assignments.Second, the internet is getting more and more indispensably to human as it is more convenience, faster and more information. You do not have to go to the library and go through the books one by one to find the articles or journals and it can save your time. Although websites is more convenience compared to you goes to the library, it contains bad information as well. If you have to find information through websites, make sure that you find them from the websites which are trustable like Google, Wikipedia, Yahoo or some official websites. Third is the book. Find information from books is a more reliable as the information that we found are more detailed. Sometimes, it will attach some additional information which is related to the topic. Moreover, you can find the earlier information which at least five years or above. Last, there will be the magazines and journals. Magazines are the articles which write for all the public to read. It does not write in depth to a topic and it usually is the comments of the certain writer towards the topic or incident.

Journals are the articles which write in depth and contain some information that particular to the topic. It is written by the professionals who had qualified in certain areas. Journal has s benefit which is providing the hottest information. From this, I learnt that the information is divided into two parts which are good information and bad information. We can find our information which needed from primary and secondary sources, search from web, books, magazines and journals. Through these sources, we can find the most accurate information.

5.0 TASK 4Plagiarism is an action which steals or takes others ideas or concepts without any reformation and takes it as your own works. The information does not have a clear source. In Latin, plagiarism has a mean of kidnap. The plagiarism is not only on words but also on others like photos, tables, graphs or ideas.Plagiarism is divided into a few types which are direct plagiarism, self plagiarism, mosaic plagiarism and accidental plagiarism. The first plagiarism is direct plagiarism. Direct plagiarism is an action which copies others ideas without any adjustment and does not list out the sources where we had found.

Next is self plagiarism. It is an action which a person reuses or joins his or her previous works on the after assignment. It will have a situation likes use a previous essay which had written in high school in a course of college or university. The other situation is their assignments have common ground even they are not in the same class. This is improper as the professors will never approve this. Furthermore, there will be a mosaic plagiarism. When a student uses the source information without change the words with its synonyms, use a quote or change the sentence structures. It can also be known as patch writing. The last type of the plagiarism is accidental plagiarism. This is a student does not state out the sources or state the wrong sources when doing their assignments. There will be another situation which is the student use information of a source with same words or sentence structures but they are not deliberately doing like this. There are some consequences if plagiarism occurred. The consequence is you may get a fail grade. If you get a fail, you will have to redo your assignment again. Then, you may be expelled if the more severe punishment is carries out.

Besides, there are some means for us to avoid plagiarism. First, the mean is paraphrase which we use our own words to write the assignment. Then, we must cite out what the information that we had found from a source. If we cite out the source, that can prove that we find the information are through the right source.

Moreover, quote the source and use the right way. Quote out the source if you are not sure about the source. If you do not quote the source, the punishment might be carried out if there is someone has similar information with you. Apart from that, understand what you are going to write on a paper so that the mistakes can be reduced. You can follow systematically to the approach and be aware of what you are going to search. From this, I learnt that plagiarism is an action which copy others ideas and take it as your own ideas. There are some types of plagiarism and consequences if we do plagiarism. I also learnt that how to keep ourselves from having plagiarism. 6.0 CONCLUSIONEnglish for written communication taught us about how to write a formal letter to others by using the exact English. 8.0 COURSEWORK

The parts of a Formal Letter

The parts of the formal letter indicated in the above sample have their specific functions. Each one of these elements is therefore important in their own right.

If these elements are in place and they perform their function well, you will have a good formal letter. This might not automatically mean that your letter will be effective but it does mean that you letter has a far greater chance at being successful or effective as compared to a letter without these elements in place. The elements of a formal letter are as follows:

(a) The Letterhead

Most letterheads can contain the company name, its address and contact numbers and its logo. This is important because this way the reader knows who the letter is form the moment he or she opens it This saves time and time is precious, and it is even more so if the reader has to go through a sack-full of letters that day.

(b) The Address

In this letter the address is separate from the company name. It can also be included in the letterhead. In most correspondences, a reference number is added here for referencing purposes.

(c) The DateThe day, month and year is extremely important especially if you are in constant with the other person or institution because it allows you to track your dealings with the other person easily.

(d) The Recipients Address

You always have the address of the recipient here. This is not because you need to be reminded where you live but because it helps to differentiate you from the rest of the people they write to. This also helps by making the letter easier to mail. You simply fold the letter in such a way as to make this section the front and then place it in an envelope that has a transparent window in the right place.

(e) Salutations

People have names and titles. You always begin by addressing people appropriately but often you are not sure of their title. Consequently, it is not unusual to find letters with the salutation, Dear Sir / Madam / Ms. These salutations should take care of all the commonly available salutations. Then you also have the less common ones like Your Lordship, Your Majesty, Your Excellency and a host of others.

(f) The Subject Line

The subject line can also be marked with Re: which means Reference or in reference to. This tells the recipient what the letter is about. It is another time and effort saving device. It is also a referencing(device) that enables the secretary to file the letters by subject.

(g) The Introduction This is your letters beginning or introduction. Be sure to include the gist of your letter here so that the reader knows exactly what to look for when she reads your letter. Only include the issues you have outlined here, do not pull surprises by adding other issues later, it can be annoying. This in turn can lead to your letter being redirected to the bin.

(h) The Middle / Body

This is where you place you arguments, illustrations and reasons. This part can be long but short and precise ones are often better.

(i) The Ending

Here is the ending, so put your apologies and appreciation here. If you expect the recipient to reply to your letter, remind the person here.

(j) Your Closing Salutations

(k) The Senders Name

(l) The Senders Title/Position Page 2 of 19
