Heretofore , the sports chairmen have sat down with a committee of coaches to make the selections. Where there are six leagues involved , such as basketball and baseball , the policy has been to have the 1-2 teams in each league compete in the champ ionship tourney plus four " at large " teams , teams supposedl y selected at random from the six leagues because of their records through the season . What the Policy Committee came up with was : Each league in June of each year is to select one or more athletic directors , to serve one at a time , on this committee . The Sports Chairman (of the current sport) will be the chairman of the "At Large Selection Committee " and shall call his meeting during the final week of the season. The Policy Committee also set the guidelines for the selection of the " at large " teams-on the basis of their league record , over-all record and " common op- ponent" record. The committee also charged the "At La rg e Selection Committee " with the chore of seeding teams for the tournaments. Incidentally, balloting is now taking place by the member schools on the recommendations of the League Placement Committee. The recommended plan keeps Brentwoo d and West Islip in Lea gu e One and Bay Shore in League Two. Central Islip would drop to League Three with Connetquot , East Islip and Hauppauge-four area schools-in League Three . Islip would remain in League Four which undergoes drastic revision and would become a 10-school leagu e listing Centereach . Amityville, Kings Park, Port Jefferson , Sayville. Riverhead , Bellport .
