In spite of our changes in the dance club location, the last few weeks have been busy. Darlene Weaver is chairing our annual party efforts and has been busy scouting out, planning, and putting to-gether what promises to be a top notch event. If she approaches you for help, please jump in and support her and the club. Thank you Darlene, you make us proud! Some of the happenings over the last few weeks include: May 21-25 Grand Nationals in Atlanta, Ga. The report back was that it was once again a major success. Several of our members placed in the shag division contest, and in the jack and jill contest divisions. Way to go! June 13 – CSA Contest sponsored by the Richmond Shag Club. This was a great time; several of us competed in the con-test and the members that placed in the competition included: In amateur divi-sion, Cathy Metcalf and Vaughn Royal, 3rd place; Joan McKinney and her partner Tom Edwards, 4th place; in novice division, Kevin Byrnes and his wife Joan, 4th place; and in professional division, Heather and Craig Jennings, 3rd place. Con-gratulations to all…. We’re loving our Virginia stars…! What’s coming up – that you can not miss: July 24, 25 -NVSC Capital Classic. This is Northern Va.’s traditional annual party that is always a great event at the Dulles Hilton in Reston, Va. Folks come from all over to join in this popular party. A weekend of workshops, entertainment, food and drink, and dancing to your

Hello out there…..hope your summer so far is active, healthy and exciting. It seems like we have not seen many of you for a while, so I am reaching out to take stock. With our dance location closing it has left our club out of sorts. We have been trying many other loca-tions to see if they would work for our dance club needs, but have been disap-pointed with most of them. We are cur-rently trying Box Seats in Massaponax. The facility is working so far for us and the management is willing to enhance our environment with a new floor that will be more user friendly to dance on. They are also offering other amenities for us and have been very hospitable to our club. We will take these considera-tions and location to the general mem-bership for vote on July 16. So, please

This is going to be an “Up town” kind of event…. to be held at the Fredericksburg Country Club. Check out our web site for more information and stay tuned as it is updated. Tickets will be sold in advance and we are look-ing for a full house, lots of fun and lots of classy touches. So, mark your calendars and get your tickets when they come out. We have had and will continue to have changes. We are all working to minimize any dis-ruptions in our club’s dance lessons, DJ’ing, and fun, so do your part to keep a positive attitude and a smile on your face! I want to welcome our new mem-bers, embrace our old, and reinforce our club foundation. Please help your club to make it through these tough times. Whether we work or play, our collective friendships provide strength for each of us. See you all soon, and may the good times roll.

Membership Renewal

This is a reminder for BBC members to renew their membership. We have heard from about ¾ of our members since the beginning of the new year. Membership renewals are due in the month of January at the beginning of each year. If you

joined the club as a new member in October, November or December, you are not required to pay your membership dues until the following January…so you get 3 free months. So, let’s renew and keep our mem-bership count up and strong! Thanks!
