All renewals were due in January 2009 and each year in January. Our membership is still $10 per year offering so much for that invest- ment. The Jackie and Charlie weekend Febru- ary 13-15 sponsored by the NVSC was once again, a major success. For more information on any of the events, please check the flyer table at the Loft and if you do not see what you are looking for, let me know. Please note the short article in the news- letter that announces a small increase in our admission at the Loft. We will go to $4.00 at the door in March. This meager increase will be going directly to the Loft for their support and service to our BBC. We are very fortunate to have had the Loft to use as our BBC home base. Let us give back to a facility that has given us a place to dance for 3 years. Having a dependable place to dance for this long is rare among dance clubs. Please continue to patronize them and buy food and beverages. Thank you! So, let’s get ready to dance into spring. Nurture our old friends, make new friends, and embrace our strengths. Let’s “be on the floor” and provide a dance venue that equates to the “big boys. A BBC challenge that collectively can be met - Let’s do it! Let the good times continue to roll. J&C always stay at Jerry and David Rodgers’ home. They are t r e a t e d royally! It truly is a haven for them with all the trimmings. They work around the clock with shag lessons interwoven with friendship updates, and at each day’s end, they collapse with accomplishment. We all love them as they give us our annual shag boast. Thanks to Jerry and David for sharing their home with the champions and those of us that are passion-ate about shag. Jerry and David’s hospitality is un-matched! Yeah!

Jackie and Charlie live in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and are the king and queen of shag, umpteen champion winners and at the top of the shag lad-der. What a pleasure to spend time with them and what a blast we all had during the weekend. Some of us started with private lessons beginning on Thursday, and into the weekend. Then there were three workshops crammed with new footwork. Let’s see if we can all 1) remember the steps; and 2) execute them..! No pressure…! Well, the Sat-urday night dance was the topping on the cake for all that attended. While the “Franwich Twins” went around offering 50/50, kissing various select guys, and spreading good will, the rest of us were either dancing or looking at them with pleasure in the fun they were having. Way to go you two “party girls.” --- All the fun in-cluded a Jackie and Charlie exhibition dance that daz-zled us all….what a show….and dancing to a fast tune. Charlie is going to split his “?” if he is not careful. A true Wow show! --Many BBC’ers were there. The best of the best!

Charlie & Jackie Valentine Weekend!

Jerry & David Rodgers

Jackie McGee and Charlie Womble came to town Val-entine’s Day weekend for their 12th annual workshop and party sponsored by the NVSC.

Membership Renewal This is a reminder for BBC members to renew their membership. We have heard from about ¾ of our members since the beginning of the new year. Membership renewals are due in the month of January at the beginning of each year. If you joined the club as a new member in October, November or December 2008 you are not required to pay your membership dues until the following January…so you get 3 free months. Otherwise, let’s renew and keep our membership count up and strong! Thanks!

Admission at the Loft The BBC admission at the Loft is changing to $4.00 per person effective March 24, 2009. This is due to a “fairness” consideration for using the Loft. We have been at the Loft for 3 years and the management does not charge us to use the facility. We are not pressured to buy food and drink, and we have full use of the Loft on Tuesdays for our BBC needs. This is an exceptional privilege. With this in mind, the BBC Officers and Board of Directors recently approved the $1.00 increase in the admission. This will be given to the Loft for their support and service to our club. The DJs will continue to receive $3.00 pp at the door in compensation and appreciation for playing for us. To further support our dance venue, please consider patronizing the Loft by purchasing food and beverages on Tuesday. If you decide to drink water served in a paper cup with a lemon and a straw (which has been free to us), please be sure to tip your server. Don’t forget it still takes sup-plies to serve us water. Although it sounds silly, it is a fact. It takes resources to maintain supplies. Thank you for your understanding and make us proud by doing your share!
