FridayRadiation City5pm

Fresh from the

burgeoning Portland

label, Apes Tapes,

Cameron Spies and

Lizzy Ellison have cooked up yet another

darling sound to tear you away from your

TV dinner. The calmed echoes of amplifier

tubes and secret gramophones. The

soothing, sonic smile of a warbling Wurlitzer,

and precisely sparse heart-throbbing drums.

There is something aged and nostalgic

about Radiation City that will take you

away on wings wiser than your years while

thoughtfully reminiscing in something

you've yet to hear.

Sophistafunk

7pm

The four elements of

Sophistafunk are 1) a

1950s jazz club, (2) a

1960s poetry lounge,

(3) a 1970s funk party

and (4) a 1980s hip hop show. Sophistafunk

is a one-of-a-kind musical journey that

connects with fans of all ages & styles.

"Combining the vibes of funk music with the

intensity of hip hop and spoken-word poetry,

this group specializes in cross-genre music.

A truly fantastic hip hot jazz band!

Mosley Wotta9:30pm

The moniker MOsley

WOtta is a play on the

words mostly water,

which reflects the

belief that we are all made up of the same

elements. All living beings are mostly water-

- that, more than race or species or gender is

what truly connects us all to each other.

This live Hip Hop band encourages unity

through music and the celebration of our

commonalities. Front man Jason Graham's

background in theatre and poetry are closely

woven into every musical performance.

SaturdaySara Jackson Holman11am

It is literally from out of

the blue that pianist/

singer-songwriter Sara

Jackson-Holman was launched onto the

national music scene. For the then 20 year-

old Whitworth University piano and writing

student from Bend, nothing could have

prepared her for the trajectory her life was

about to take; propelling her from student

life, to recording her first CD, to hearing her

debut single “Into the Blue” close out the

ABC hit show Castle in the emotional Season

2 finale, all in a matter of months. Recently,

her songs have been placed in MTV’s

Chelsea Settles and CW’s Ringer, Her debut;

garnered rave reviews and comparisons

to chanteuses Adele, Amy Winehouse and

Feist.

The Horde & The Harem12:30pm

The Horde and the

Harem are a spirited

band of troublemakers

known to ride bicycles and create

danceable folk pop thick with layers of

harmony. Formed in Seattle but comprised

of members originally scattered all about

the West Coast, the group's music certainly

has a flavor distinct to the Pacific Northwest.

Elegant vocal melodies are tasteful and

classic to the point that they sound familiar

even on a first listen. Bright bursts of guitars

and trumpets soar above like noble birds of

prey flying through the trees over a rhythm

section reminiscent of men shoveling coal

into a steam engine, propelling it down the

tracks.

The Artists’ Runway

(Fashion Show!)

Presented by Northsoles

Footwear.

1:30pm

Returning for another

year, The Artists’ Runway showcases artistic

fashions from Bend and across the region.

Leaves Russell2pm

This Portland quartet

owes its unique rock

n’ roll sound to its

members’ divergent

backgrounds, but each has something in

common: a love of music that stretches

back to its earliest days. Leaves Russell’s

geographic roots are scattershot: Russell

and Medina met after high school in Austin;

then Medina moved to Chicago and Russell

to Colorado before reuniting in Portland in

2009. Conrad, a Portland native, put down

his guitar to audition for Leaves on drums;

Schmid found his way to Russell’s Brooklyn

neighborhood home from Wisconsin soon

after. The results are coming to Bend Fall

Festival !

Tango Alpha Tango3:30pm

This band continues

that expert and

surprising balance

of folk noir and space rock, even finding

room for a glossy pop chorus in "Give of the

Summer." There isn't a single wrong move

on Tango Alpha Tango; "This City" rears an

angry, stoner blues riff in the middle of a

tightly knotted funk strut, and as clunky as

that sounds, it works brilliantly. On record,

Tango Alpha Tango continues to make

some confoundingly good work, following

up 2008's Rebel Sons of Cowboys with a

collection of adventurous and admirable

rock and roll.

Sophistafunk5:30pm - See bio above.

Larry & His Flask7:30pm

Musical anthropologists

interested in the study

of just how fast a band

can evolve need look no further than the six

upright, upstanding men in Oregon’s Larry

and His Flask. Formed by brothers Jamin

and Jesse Marshall in 2003, the Flask (as

the band’s expanding army of fans calls

them) spent its first half-decade stuck in a

primordial, punk-rock goop, where a blood-

sweat-and-beers live show took priority

over things like notes and melodies. Don’t

misunderstand: The band was (somewhat)

skilled and an absolute joy to watch, but the

goal was always the party over perfection.

Over the past two years, however, Larry

and His Flask has gone from crawl to sprint

at breakneck speed. First, Jamin Marshall

moved from gargling-nails vocals to drums.

Guitarist Ian Cook became the band’s

primary voice. And a trio of talented pickers

and singers — Dallin Bulkley (guitars), Kirk

Skatvold (mandolin) and Andrew Carew

(banjo) — joined the family. (And no, you

didn’t miss something. No one is named

Larry.)

Steve Kimock BandWith Bernie Worrell,

Wally Ingram

and Andy Hess

9:30pm

A master of improvisation for nearly four

decades, Steve Kimock has been inspiring

music fans with his transcendent guitar

speak, voiced through electric, acoustic,

lap and pedal steel guitars. While one can

say that his genre is rock, no one niche has

ever confined him. Instead, through the

years, he's explored various sounds and

styles based on what's moved him at the

time, whether it ’s blues or jazz; funk or folk;

psychedelic or boogie; gypsy or prog-rock;

traditional American or world fusion.

Threaded through this expansive and highly

nuanced musical landscape is Kimock’s

signature sound, the prodigious product of

his ability to articulate crystal-clear tone,

melody and emotion into intricately woven

music crafted with technical brilliance.

In recent years Kimock has played with

groups such as Banyan, Jerry Joseph’s Lit tle

Women, the Everyone Orchestra, ALO, and

post-String Cheese Incident electronica

bands PRAANG (with EOTO) and Holy

Kimoto! Once touted by Jerry Garcia as his

“favorite unknown guitar player,” Kimock

has also performed and toured as part of

Bob Weir’s Kingfish and RatDog, in addition

to post-Grateful Dead ensembles including

The Other Ones, Phil Lesh & Friends, and

the Rhythm Devils featuring Mickey Hart

and Bill Kreutzmann. The guitarist has

recorded and toured with Bruce Hornsby

and worked extensively with Merl Saunders.

Additionally, he has shared the stage with

Five Pint Mary1pm

Upbeat, loud, &

rollicking, Five Pint

Mary plays a unique

blend of Irish/Celtic/Eastern Euro rock

with an edge of punk. Seven diverse and

talented members collectively play guitar,

mandolin, accordion, banjo, Irish tin whistle,

bass, and drums. Finished off with layers of

tightly woven three- part harmony vocals,

the band creates a sound that is infectious

and fun. Influenced by the traditional music

styles of Ireland, Scotland, Newfoundland, a

bit of the Eastern Block, and infused with a

ripple of American Bluegrass, Five Pint Mary

delivers a fresh and lively world sound that

gets people into a rambunctious groove of

dancing and reveling!

Tony Smiley3pm

Since 2000, Tony

Smiley has captured

audiences with his

beats. This musical

savant loops his way through a unique genre

of music that you won’t find anywhere else.

All with witty, engaging, and energetic stage

presence. His cosmic dance of electric

melodies mixed with world beats, Mongolian

throat singing and beat-boxing have earned

the loop ninja a cult like following that

repeatedly embarks on his musical journey.

Creating each track with a raw and primal

pulsating connection between rich sounds

and passionate lyrics.

The Artists

rich in both New Zealand Maori

and European ancestry, sketches

from life first and then spends

time visualizing before painting.

combinations and using patterns

Micah Ofstedahl: The inspiration

for these lines comes from various

sources of nature, particularly

those that generally go unseen.

JanyRae Seda: Artistic process

begins with an idea or a place, real

or imaginary, a series of sketches

to full size drawings and finally to

canvas, then stretches the canvas

and applies many layers of gesso.

Oil, watercolor, charcoal, and a

combination of all. Bold use of

color, vibrant lighting, and rough

texture etched from both ends of

the paintbrush, and palette knife.

Work that tells a story, expresses joy,

and makes you smile.

surrounding the artist’s home.
