Today we are going to practice how to write our

names independently.

If you don’t know how to write your name

independently you can ask an adult to write it for you in a light colour and

you can trace over it.

This is going to be so much fun, let’s start!

Hygiene Clean Hands

Make personal hygiene interesting by playing games that will help to instil the importance of hygiene. Whether in the classroom or at home, children can learn about the importance of hygiene and find the right ways to stay neat, clean and healthy.

However, hands should be scrubbed with an antibacterial soap for at least 2 minutes.

For this hygiene fun, we are going to sprinkle glitter on the children's hands and challenge them to wash off the glitter with soap and water. Glitter is naturally sticky, so it will take at least 30 seconds to scrub the glitter away.

Don’t forget to sing our washing up song while we are washing our hands!

Germ Transfer

Remind your child to use their ‘helper hand’ (opposite of their writing hand), to stabilise the page and hold it down while they write.

Help them use the correct tripod pencil grip. This may take some practice, but it is key for writing letters with correct letter formation.

Ensure your child is sitting at the right sized table with their feet flat on the floor to create the stability needed to move their eyes and hands with precision.

We are going to teach the children about the spread of germs by explaining how germs can live on hands and the things that we touch. Next you can pretend to sneeze, and when you do, cover your hands in a washable paint. Then go about your business, touching things around the room (that can afford to have paint on them).

The kids will actively see the transfer of germs, to help them understand the concept. After this exercise, have the kids find and tally all the surfaces where germs now live just from you transferring them

Let’s have three same sized containers and explore a variation of

capacities. A good resource for this is 3

transparent water bottles of the same/similar sizes. Fill one until it’s full, one

half full and keep one empty.

Let’s think:

-Is the full container the heaviest?

-Can you place them in order?

-Can you compare the half full and the full container?

- Which container is the lightest? How do you know it’s the lightest?
