CREATING AN IDENTITY

COMMUNITY TRAINING CENTRE , BADGEBUP

The location of the proposed Badgebup training college is approximately 30 minutes north east of Katanning along Katanning-Nyabing Rd, providing a positive environment away from the temptations and distractions of a town site environment.

The training college will be a dedicated community facility which will provide students with the skills and knowledge to enable them to transition into full time employment either on country or in the mining industry.

The Badgebup training college will provide community training with a focus on:

• Frontline Management

• Site Specifi c Induction

• Conservation and Land Management,

• Health, Safety & Environment

• Horticulture

• Fire Training

• Cross Cultural Awareness

• Mentoring

• Construction White Card

• Mine site Induction

• Mining skills - Bobcat, EWP, Dogman, Rigger tickets

It will also provide student accommodation for up to (15-20) trainees, (5-10) staff [2 mentors, 3 teachers] and a caretaker.

The target audience will be the multicultural community of the Katanning region in partnership with federal, state and local government authorities including the Great Southern Institute of Technology.

The Badgebup training college will aim to build the local skill base by increasing training participation and employment outcomes for the long-term unemployed to build a sustainable future for the region.
