1. Introduction1.1.GoalIn this document we will show you how to back up a system image and

restoresystem image in Windows 8. It will be able to use to restore the

contents of your computer back to the state it was in when the system

image was created if your HDD or computer ever stops working.

You can't choose individual items to restore, and all of your current

programs, system settings, and files are replaced with the contents of

the system image.

1.2.Target CustomerThe system image is designed for all series of all ASUS Windows 8

products. The target user may only have very basic computer skill.

1.3.Support environmentSupported OS (for all series of all ASUS products): Windows 8 64-bit Windows 8 32-bit

1.4.Limitations You must be signed in as an administrator to be able to create a

system image.

Make sure your local disk is enough space to save this system image.

2. SOPPart I. The following are steps to create a system image in windows 8.

Step 1:

Hit Windows logo button + F on your keyboard. On performing this

action, a small search window will appear on your screen, as shown in

below image.

In this new window you find a search bar on the right. Click on Settings

and type Recovery in this search bar.

On performing this action you will get few results on the left side of this

window. In this result window click on icon labelled as Windows 7 File

Recovery(Yes, it says "Windows 7").

Step 2:

On clicking this icon, a new window will appear on your screen, as shown

in below image. In this new window click on Create a system image.

Step 3:

On performing this action, a new window will appear on your screen, as

shown in below image. This window searches for backup devices

available if any.

If you are creating image for first time then you will be led to the window

which is similar to shown in below image, in this window select where

you prefer to save your image backup.

Now here you have selected a local drive to save your systems image.

After selecting, click on Next button.

Step 4:

On clicking this button, you will be led to another window as shown in

below image. This window shows which drive files will be saved in the

image. In this window click on Start backup button.

Step 5:

On clicking this button, image creation process begins. Windows 8 will

save the backup first and then create the system image backup as shown

in below images. This might take few minutes.

Step 6:

On completion of this process, a new window will appear on your screen,

as shown in below image. This window is dedicated to start system

repair disc.

Click on Yes button to create a system repair disc and proceed (to create

this you need an empty DVD to store all information).

Step 7:

On completion of this process, you will get a window which is similar to

as shown in below image. This completes the image creation process

click on Close button to complete the process.

And you will see this folder, WindowsImageBackup, under your local

drive which you select to save your Win8 system image.

Step 2:

Choose which language you want to install as shown in below image.

Step 3:

Choose Troubleshoot option as shown in below image.

Step 4:

Choose Advanced options as shown in below image.

Step 5:

Choose System Image Recovery option as shown in below image. And

then choose a target system. Please select Windows 8.

Step 6:

System will search for a while and you can select a backup system image

as shown in below image. After selecting, click on Next button.

Step 7:

Choose additional restore options as shown in below image. If you do

not have to, please click on Next button.

Step 8:

Please confirm your restore information as shown in below image. Click

on Finish button to continue.

Step 9:

And then a warming window will appear on your screen, as shown in

below image.

All data on the drivers to be restored will be replaced with the data in

the system image. If you are sure and want to continue, click Yes button

to continue.

Step 10:

Windows is restoring your computer from the system image which you

select as shown in below image. This might take few minutes.

When it is finished, a window will appear on your screen. You can clickRestart now button or you have 60 seconds before the computer

restarts automatically. Now you have successfully restored the system.
