The Backpack Explorers curriculum is designed for elementary grades andfocuses on our region's natural resour es and the threats to its biodiversity . Thepurpose is to help teachers lead engagi g activities that teach heir students aboutour native wildlife and habitats and he p build an awareness of the importance ofbiological diversity . The selection of 1 sson plans includes : Trees and Leaves,Insects, Mammals, Birds, and Biodive sity . The curriculum is also designed tohelp teachers meet the Illinois State Gals and Standards for Science (#12) .

In addition, this program can be incorp rated into the Mighty Acorns curriculum
